I'm pretty new to the whole forum thing. Last Monday I just picked up a 2006 xterra x. Has 110 on the clock. My first nissan, owned a Subaru prier. She has a full k&n intake w/ box and a magnaflow cat. Back. Wanna beef her up a bit more for mudding. Currently looking for a bolt on spare tire mount for the gate. Any ideas?

Welcome from Kentucky! Be careful with a disease that runs rampant on this site. It's called the mod bug, and once you get it there is no cure!

There are several choices for replacement rear bumpers that include swing out tire carriers that might fit the bill for you. The search function is your friend on this site.

You're already showing the initial signs of the disease!;)

Lol I certainly have plans. Some for mudding and some for keeping the damn deer from taking out more head lights (I.e. grill guard). Sadly pockets are a bit thin. Bit we'll get there.

Welcome from Northern VA. I also just bought my first (05) Xterra. I also had a Subaru previously... sold it to get the X. Unfourtunatly My X has some issues I was unaware of when I bought it... Mainly timing chain whine, that I did not hear. But, I love it and will fix it when it't time.

Have you done your research on some of the suggested mods to the 05 to 10 X's? I just did a bypass of the radiator cooler and added and external trans cooler inline with the stock one to prevent any possible fluid mixture and tranny failure. Just a thought.

Hope you enjoy your X and welcome again to the Forum!

Welcome from philly also. ! If your interested in coming out to the riding dirty event nov 2 there are some stock freindly trails . Check it out on here in the shows events section.

And i recomend a basic lift and tires first before the tire carrier as they are big $$ heres a run down to get your feet wet ...

Check Craigslist for used tires before buying new if your on a budget $300-$500 for a set of good MT tires in a 32/33'' size .
285/75/16 Is the largest size you can fit with out a major lift or trimming the fender or melt mod ( melting the plastic wheel well pushing it in ) .
For a lift of 2-3" Lift with spacers and shackles will set you back $250 for a set new from PRG but there are guys running Ebay spacers for half that price with no issues . Also look on craigslist and here for guys selling oem bilsteins as they as a big upgrade from the stock shocks you have on there

And one important as mentioned above ^^ bypass the radiator trans cooler ( search SMOD ) you will thank me later before you have to replace transmission due to coolant and trans fluid mixing 05-07 suffer from this .

Good luck and have fun with it !
