Hey everyone, I need some help identifying some factory/aftermarket wiring in my 2012 Pro-4x. After I bought the truck in 2015, I noticed a push-button type switch under the steering wheel/dash (pic1&2). I would push it every now and then when I was driving just to see if it did anything that I could notice- nothing. Upon further investigation today, I noticed it ran to this min/max controller, zip-tied above the switch (pic3), with a couple of harnesses coming out of it. I then followed it to the left side kick panel and it was spliced into a number of factory wires(pic4).

Has anyone seen anything like this controller or could tell me what aftermarket mods it could possibly control? or know where I could start looking in the forum? It doesn't really seem to have any wires heading to anywhere else in the vehicle, just spliced into the factory wires for power. I saw a couple of other kick panel posts but don't think I made any progress. I'm kind of a newbie when it comes to identifying wires in the truck, but if I can get some leads on to what it could be, based on what it's spliced into in the kick panel, I'll be able to continue this quest. Thanks so much for any help, I appreciate it.

That's your nitrous button. Your bottle must be empty.

Sorry, looks like an owner mod but I have no idea what it is either.

Don’t remove it. Just leave it be. All those connections are taps. You’ll have a LOT of wiring to seal after pulling them off.
It isn’t going to blow your truck up or anything. Just an annoyance that it’s there, yeah. But taking it out might bring more misery than just leaving it and ignoring it.

It’s disabled. You could move the interface plug that’s screwed on below the steering column to up under the dash more to hide it though. That’s about all I’d do and then forget about it. It’s been in there for how many years now? Lol.

ya, I don't plan on removing it, just wanted to identify it before I moved on to the larger project. Thanks so much.

Many of the wires are just taps. Usually there is one or two hidden that control wires that have been cut somewhere. I can see the orange wire attached to a cut factory white wire. That kind of crap.
It may be disabled now, but they have a nasty tendency to enable themselves later in life. Often after a battery is disconnected or replaced. They also tend to wake up and start sucking the battery down when parked. Mystery current draw? The security system is running it down.

Doesn't have to be today. But sometime when the weather is nice and you have some time. Carefully remove it and restore all the cut wires back to factory. It won't matter today. But a few years from now it won't be a problem when it otherwise would be.
