My battery decided to crap out on me so I decided I would upgrade to an AGM battery. Since a NorthStar or Odyssey battery is out of my price range (though I’d love to have one) I decided to look at more economical options. Long story short I decided on a Napa Legend Group 35 AGM battery. With the rebates and specials they have going on I was able to snag one for $122.33. Originally they are $179.99. If you enter promo code SAVEMORE (Valid through 8/16/20) at checkout it takes 20% off which now makes the price $161.99. Also if you are a new Napa online customer and you create a profile you automatically get a $5 Napa rewards bonus you can use on this item. So after taxes and with the $5 Napa rewards I’m now at $166.41 invested. Then if you turn in your old battery core, like I did, that’s another $19.08 that’s taken off the purchase price. So now we are at $147.33. Finally through the end of this month Napa is offering a $25.00 Visa gift card rebate for purchasing a new battery. You can submit your claim totally online. So if you deduct this rebate from the purchase price your total investment is $122.33. Act fast though because some of the rebates are ending soon.

Awesome!
If I had a place yet for the second battery I want to have inside somewhere... like behind driver, auxiliary use. Or dual setup up front...someday.

for now I just have a jump starter (half weight of battery, but there are light capacitor jumpers ) when things go bad, and sometimes it’s an accident like this year, drained the battery with wrong key position (never happened before), or too much use with engine off (happened at least 20 times)

thanks to my extra curricular activities with engine off, I wear out a battery after a year where its performance decline is noticeable, even with trickle charging throughout that year

My jump starter costs $130 !
So yes having 2 batteries at that price is a good deal. Just remember to charge the auxiliary one in the garage. Trickle charger is about $70 and connects to house AC, takes a night to recharge it, slowly, properly.

I've always gotten away with a lithium jumpstarter for about $80. They are about 6" long by 3" wide by 1 ". I have two of them. I have a fridge that I use heavily on camping trips and when it runs the battery down the trusty jumpstarter works every time. The fridge will only run the battery down if I'm using it as a feezer and have it set to 0 Deg or less. At refrigerator temps (~35 deg) it can go for well over 15 hours without running the battery down to the point where the truck won't start. I have an Odyssey AGM that I charge once a month with an AGM-profile charger. Seems to keep it happy as I've had this battery for about 3 years now and have discharged it multiple times.
Point is ... not sure a dual-battery setup is worth much anymore with the advent of these lithium jumpers .... unless you are running a winch and doing a lot of crawling and using that winch.
