I came out of a business recently and saw a stock pathfinder parked next to my Xterra.

S model with 2" spacer lift and p4x billstein coils up front and a prg 2" adj lift shackle on the rear with a helwig 550 helper on the rear leaf. prg shackle at the 1.5" setting, or middle. rear sits level with or slightly higher than the front.

285/75/16 general grabbers on stock rims.

its crazy how much bigger the X looks than the pathy!

A guy at church has a pathy, and you're right that when I park next to it I make his look like a toy. Mine is about like yours except I still have the stock tires.

Wow.
I believe if you compare the numbers, the Pathy is equal or bigger in all aspects, other than total height, and that probably is only due to the Pathy's low profile roof rack.

I really dislike the styling of the Pathfinders grill area......I wish they would have just put the same face on it as Xterra. That gen Pathy can tow 7,000 pounds and has more room for luggage etc AND you can option a V8, so I admit I think about adding one every now and then. They are SO much cheaper than a 4 Runner, and I've had such incredible luck with my Xterra so staying with a Nissan truck appeals to me.....But swapping my Xterra for a Pathfinder would be tough.

Oh no doubt, the previous generation was larger.

Yeah, I agree but if I had to buy a replacement for my Xterra right now, 4 Runner is at the top of the list.

Once upon a time owned a WD-21 Pathfinder with a standard shift. That tiny, puny light-truck sized 4X4 SUV could go everywhere. I mean everywhere.

It could probably slip through a few places where an X would encounter difficulties.

I’ve had the same thought but good luck finding one with a V8 these days though. The ones that remain are pretty rough if not all out crap.

My neighbor across the street has a dark grey V8 Pathfinder and I find myself staring at it all the time. It's rarely ever driven, just sits and collects dust. I talked to the owner last summer and he said it was his father's who passed away and left him with it. He said it has 15k miles and is mint condition, inside and out, and that he'll never sell it or put "unnecessary miles on it." But he leaves it outside in the elements...I don't get it.

I’ve never understood that mentality. Vehicles are meant to be driven/enjoyed what’s the point of just letting it sit.

yeah unless your jay leno and can afford a climate controlled, employee maintained garage to store them in, turn over the engine periodically and move them around( rotate the tires so they dont get flat spots) its pointless!

letting them sit outside, undriven, is worse than daily driving the thing!

And let's be honest - it's a Pathfinder, not exactly a collector car. Ah well, it's his to do whatever wants with it.

I was going to say that but then again look at XJs these days. Clean XJs are going for a pretty penny. I could see some bizarre world where a V8 pathy would be worth $$ but then again Nissans don’t have the same status as Jeeps (we wouldn’t understand since it’s a Jeep thing).

Wish we still had Zuks. Anyone think there’s a bit of Bronco styling? I’d love to have a modern Sammi.

have you been following the old suzuki rebiuld series on youtube? its pretty neat, its being done by a few different channels so alittle hard to follow, but you may want to check it out.

this isnt the beginnig of the story but close:

I've watched every one of those! Matts Off Road Recovery, Fab Rats and Robby Layton are the channels showcasing it. It's almost done. But it's not a restoration, they used Samurai axles and a Suzuki Sidekick drivetrain. Still cool tho! That thing is TINY!

That's no joke. I've had a couple of XJ's for work vehicles and there's just something about them that I absolutely love. Small Dana 30 axles up front, slightly larger Dana 35/Chrysler 8.25 in the rear (some came with a D44) but you can throw 33's on and drive them surprisingly hard before they break. I've seen guys on 35's with stock Dana 30's up front still holding together.

I always wanted an old Tin Top.
Ended up getting an ‘87 Dodge Raider instead. Loved it as my 1st 4x4. Such a weak 4 banger! Lol!

Wanted a Defender as well but got a Disco. Really miss that one. It was a mountain goat!

The Pathfinder is nice and more roomier on the inside. I have one as well. It is a 2011 LE model. The wife drives it while I drive the 2015 Xterra. Side by side.. the X sits higher at stock height. Now that my X is lifted... it sits even more higher. Ha!
