I feel like I'm 16 all over again. Premature excitement!

While I don't have my tracking number yet from SLR but I Spencer told me today that my lift will ship tomorrow.

Keep in mind that I've been waiting for over 3 months and I paid a LONG time ago and to top it off I've been told it will be available "next week" more than once! Just to give you an idea of how excited I am. Then again they may come back and delay it again. I hope not, this has been too long and too close to do this to customers. Then again I want a reliable and working setup. Not something rushed.

A local shop is going to do the install since I need some welding done for the bump stops and the rear shock mount. It's the same place PonyBoy went to get is SFA conversion done. Very high quality from what I've heard and seen with his rig.

Well after over 5 months I finally got the lift but now I've got another problem. Rather then getting the nice King shocks in the rear which I ordered and paid for I get a pair of crappy bilstein shocks for the rear.

Turns out I guess they didn't have me down for them. A guy use to work there by the name of Josh but he got fired and I guess this was one of the reasons because he never put it down on the list. Anyway Spencer is making things right by talking with the install shop which will custom fab the rear shock mount. I'll be going with the 2.5 12" King on the rear as well so I should get a good amount of travel.

Anyway...

WOW! Dude I am sorry to hear this, but now I am glad I cancelled back in Feb. I had this kit ordered Sept. 2005, and they told me 1 month back then (dealing with Josh at the time). However, All Phase is a great shop, and will hook you up when it comes to fabbing. They do a great job.

I just dropped off my rig at the shop and got to see the parts for the first time. Everything looks really goo! A little over splatter on the welding but nothing to be concerned about. Looks like execelent quality! SLR did a great job on the whole product from what I can see as well as the the shop doing the install. Almost too good to be true since it's been about 5 months.

The shop is too far for me to visit between now and when it's complete so I told them to take lots of pictures of the install. I can't wait!

Well it wasn't there fault totally I had it ordered but it was never documented on their end. Everything's fine now. I just had to get the Kings separately and All Phase is going to build a custom shock mount in the rear.

Yeah I got the whole, "ready next week" deal every week for a while too. It's finally here but I'm sure as they get more lifts out and streamline the build process kits will ship more quickly. Sounds like Spencer could use a few extra hands out there. All that frustration seems gone that I finally have the lift but it was difficult when I was waiting.

Well I probably won't get my rig back until Monday. Not because of the shop but because this kit is FAR from being ready to the public. I guess that's what I get for being a first install. Not a big deal because the shop I'm working with is doing a lot of fab work and they are great at it! Just a real bummer when the kits is brand new and just going to market.

Siding with SLR ... Spencer is working hard with the shop to help them out which is great. Instructions, sending templates for fab work, etc. However I was told that this would be a bolt on kit. Bolt on or not ... I don't really care but at this time it's far from bolt on. The SLR stuff is great quality but I think until it get's to that point, where it is a bolt on kit, the final ride and outcome of the lift will be up to your install shop. Their fab work is what is going to make this a thumbs up or down situation at this time. At least from how I understand it.

Also the rear fab work I've mentioned was my own decision as that hasn't been finalized by SLR yet. I'm sure that will be a quick easy bolt on for the rear shock mounts when released. Also I think I'm the first to have this kit installed outside of SLR. Given that, this isn't all that bad and Spencer has been a great help to All Phase who is doing the install. Hopefully with my experience and All Phase documenting most of this, they can help SLR tweak the directions, pieces, etc.

All in all I'm happy ... so far. Then again Spencer is out of the country and the shop is having a hard time with parts not correctly going together so they are fabbing more stuff. Spencer or not, it will be done Monday which is good because I'm off to Moab Thursday morning. The stress!

Talked to All Phase this morning and it sounds like Monday for sure. They got past a big issue but by the end of the day they should be good. So far here's my schedule:

Monday: I'll get the rig in the mid morning or early afternoon after it's aligned. Then going to do some minor flex testing around town.

Tuesday: My new wheels and tires go on. Going to take it some trails and kind of beat it up a bit just to try and loosen things up and get a feel for the suspension and everything else.

Wednesday: Bring it back to All Phase and have them tune and or tighten anything else up. Get another alignment. Get my bumper, lights, CB, everything else wired and running.

Thursday: Off to Moab!

So Spencer is back in the country ... wooohooo!

Anyway the last issue that I've now ran into is with the spacing on the wheel. I guess stock backspacing won't work so right now I can't put the wheels back on to set ride hight, etc. Spencer is sending some 1" spacers overnight so that should fix everything. So I'm out another day but I'm going to try to go up there today and get pics and stuff.

BTW can anyone tell me how much more in mm or inches an 8in wheel with a 25mm offset is to the STOCK wheel which is 7" and 30mm offset right? I can't seem to figure that out and we need another inch out of the wheel offset. Just thought someone might know but no big deal if not. I guess I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Thanks again everyone!

Yeah I thought you might but Josh who worked there mentioned it but never said it was actually needed, otherwise I would of purchased them, so I never thought about it. I hope this is the only last thing needed as I roll out Thursday morning and this is cutting it WAY too close.

I think I'm going to head up after lunch and post some pics. I'm too eager not to visit ... even if I get it tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the pics and you are being very kind. Spencer should feel very fortunate to have a customer willing to do fab work on his bolt in kit so it will acutally work. Not bashing him or SLR, just impressed by your positive attitude. Have a great Moab trip!!!!!

First off thanks again for the comments. Here are some picks of the rig which I pick up tomorrow morning. I would of received it today however as I mentioned above we ran in the spacer issue which Spencer then shipped then overnight.

Sorry for the quality of pics, didn't have my camera setup and so they faded. At least it's better then nothing. A full review of the lift, tons of pics and some video should be up tomorrow night or Wednesday some time.

Again my thanks go to All Phase Off Road in Colorado. Can't say enough about these guys and their quality, fab work, customer service. I tried to offer them my first born but they wouldn't accept. How humble.

Thanks again All Phase!

Wow I want those King shocks and bumpstops! I am sure those King Hydro-bumpstops would be better than the Timbrens, of course they cost a lot more I am sure! Looks great.

One Q - how much approximately did that rear leaf pack run you?

Something else I noticed. The underside of that X is really clean. Either MC came through and cleaned it, or it hasn't been properly broken in. :bounce:

In my write up I'll have the total costs but I don't have the exact number yet but I will soon.

Regarding the undercarriage ... yeah it's clean. The X hasn't been properly introduced to anything yet other then flirting with a little mud and extremely easy and practically dirt road trails. Even after those events I got in there and cleaned her up. I usually wheel a lot and I'm not new to the X (I had an 04 SC with the Calmini 3" lift) however these past 6 months haven't given me much time to get out. New baby and work have been eating up my time.
