Comments: I have been a member of this site for well over a year now, but am just now getting around to updating posts my Xterra; no doubt because of the obvious lack of mods in comparison to others. Yet now is as good a time as any, I guess. Much of what has been done is pretty tame, granted, but as OEM equipment wears out, then (to quote a Forum member) I won't just "replace"...I will "upgrade".

This is my everyday driver, hunting vehicle, and family hauler. While my goals are far loftier then my wallet is deep, time and patience will get each and every mod installed and done right. I'm pretty sure that as the years progress and the scratches, dings and dents accumulate, I will lean toward taking the X to a more serious off road vehicle; but for now I am quite content in being able to intimidate the legions of Washington DC hybrid drivers with impunity.

On a different note...my daughter took her first shot at a deer during VA's Youth Only Day. Daddy's .308 proved to be, well, a tad more of a challenge then expected...(click on pic for video).
And, unfortunately, no deer were harmed during this filming...

Nice ride and I like all your additions so far. I do feel sorry for you that you feel the need to be a Cowboys fan, but you are a gunlover and hunter, so I will look past your transgression.

Nice clean looking ride.

Tranny started to squeal on a Friday...started to "slip" on Saturday...barely made it the 7 miles to the Dealer on Sunday and had to have it pushed into the service bay from the parking lot on Monday. Apparently, defective pump bearings which were then ground up and distributed to every nook and cranny. The Dealer had to truck out a new unit from the assembly line. On the bright side, it cost me nothing and I got to flog the hell out of a used G35 for over two weeks.

As to the K&N: I like the unit, but it is VERY loud under hard acceleration. In fact, I almost pulled it since I have grown out of my "boy racer" days. I ended up wrapping the unit in Hush Mat...still too loud...then Dynamat the underside of the hood - now, much better.

Sucks about the tranny, but driving the G35 for a little while sounds good!

Thanks for the info on the K&N! I haven't seen or heard of too many people on here running those. Seems like everyone is running the Volant. What differences did you find in acceleration, gas mileage, etc. with it on?

Update: VDC is going stupid and kicking in on every off ramp I hit over 35MPH after the tire install. Doesn't seem like there is a solution, though.

Looks like I'm going to have to train myself to turn off the VDC every day.

PITA.

As promised...yet another set of custom exhaust pics. Although, I don't recall too many having installed a resonator in the tail pipe. Very quite at idle but a nice deep V8 rumble sound on acceleration. Turned out well, I think.

Out with the old POS:

Obligatory elimination of crappy Y-pipe. Now 2.5" all the way back:

Magnaflow stainless steel goodness:

Magnaflow resonator to avoid "Boy Racer" sounds and wife's displeasure:

Now, on to the next wallet killing mod...whatever that ends up being.

Mark J...trhe Dynamat reduces road noise and quiets the interior. I am running the stock RF system and can tell the difference, believe me! One of my best mods, without doubt.

Marky...beer mod is less then $10 from Amazon. Shamelessly stole it from another member in a different post.

Apologies to both for not responding sooner!

OK...round two on the custom exhaust. This time with Flowmaster. So far, liking it much better. Y-pipe delete into dual inlet Flowmaster to stock tail pipe. Nice deep sound with no drone...and not too loud.
