Okay xterra detectives, my 2005 just started shaking while idling and at low rpm acceleration, then threw a p0305 code for a misfire in #5. She has 120k miles and I haven't changed the plugs...ever. Just a few weeks ago I noticed a few drips of oil under her which has never happened. Here's are my questions:

What are the most common causes of a misfire code in 2nd Gen?

What order of troubleshooting would you take? Should I check the plug and coil on #5 and if there's oil pooling there from a valve cover gasket leak could that cause a misfire and possible oil drips?

While I'm at it I'm planning on replacing all plugs. Is #6 a PITA like gen1?

Thanks in advance for any help!

spark plugs are supposed to be done at 100k, so you're overdue for that. I'd change the plugs and your misfire will prob go away. As for the oil leak, if it was dripping into the cylinder to cause a misfire, it wouldn't be leaking outside and dripping to the ground. these are probably two unrelated things.
