Sorry guys. Not entirely Xterra oem electrical question but something that will be used inside.
I have a cooler that I just got. Display module seems to have gone out. I took it apart to see if there was a solder/break issue but it seems fine. Backlights work, and buttons work fine just no “image” or numbers displayed in screen. Any electrical gurus care to chime in. Can I just order a new display module? I couldn’t find anything with the numbers on this one. Help. Thanks.

That may not fix it it could possibly be the display chip.

Can you point me as to which is the display chip? So it just needs replacement

I not the expert on this. This is just my guess. I would call the manufacturer.

IMHO... Unless you are skilled at working with surface mount technology chips you are not going to be able to repair it. Your photo isn't showing any part numbers on the chips, and most manufacturers do this on purpose, so you won't be able to figure out exactly what is bad.

Does that module in your first pic plug into the header on the board in your hand (3rd pic)? Try just 'scrubbing' the connections on those header pins by just plugging it in and out several times. That ESP32 chip is a SOC (system on a chip, has microprocessors, flash memory, Bluetooth and other logic that can be configured however the maker wants) that handles everything including the display. Does your fridge have Bluetooth control and does that work?

thanks. I will try the “scrub method”. Yes. Everything seems to work, (Bluetooth, wifi, setting change) just nothing on the display.

How do the capacitors look? More often than not that is the problem. I’d look at the IC’s as well. If possible I’d look at the data sheets for the chips and hook it back into power as well and use a Multi meter to check all the power and ground pins on the IC’s. But definitely start with the capacitors but be careful of the electrolytic ones because they often still have the circuit current stored in them. You can test the voltage across those as well to make sure they are safe. Bad caps have the tops domed they will be easily identifiable.

Since Bluetooth, etc works the power/grounds and the functionality of that big Espressif SOC are likely good. Probably something either in the ribbon cable, or the connector of the display module. That's what I'd focus on. As pointed out above, might be time to get out the DVM and verify power on the display and cable.

so I replaced the pcb display with an official one from Dometic. However, now I got a warning message”No communication”. NOTHING works now. No lights, power, nothing.All I can do is go through settings and toggle things on and off but doesn’t work. It does not pop up in my Bluetooth.

could it have been a faulty pcb from them? I did notice the front film was scratched all over, didn’t think much of it though thinking it was just scratched from rubbing on the other products.
