Did you buy the X model or you bought an S or OR model used? In any case, you can buy the remotes on eBay and then have them programmed with your truck. Usually, the ones on eBay come with programming instructions. If you buy from the dealer, they'll charge you to program.

Too bad, I sold my two a couple of months ago.

It came with the power package didn't it? I don't think they can install it as a standalone item. Would be cheaper to get an aftermarket alarm as most of those come with keyless entry as well.

I prefer a Stiff wire of some sort. Brandon shut his door, it locked and the truck was running...OOpps

Less mess, but takes a little longer...

Someone broke into my 1st gen 2000 X the same way - Stiff wire technique. I swore I had locked the doors and we didn't hear the alarm go off. A few months later a local AZXOC member points out a small outwards dent in the top of the drivers door where they pryed it open a little to get the wire in there and unlock the doors. Fuckers.

They took off with a nice stereo a CB, my owners manual!!! and some other bits & pieces. But I was more pissed that I couldn't figure out how the hell they got in! The strereo was so carefully removed (All the screws undone etc.) that we figure it was an other Xterra owner that did it, hense the Owners manual theft too. Your average thief would have just ripped the panel out of the dash to get to the strereo, rather than removing the screws in the ashtray etc. At least I thank them for doing that! lol

I can't believe they took your owners manual.. When my VW had gotten broke in to, they had the manual open to the radio section trying to figure out how to take it out, Needless to say they walked away with nothing.
My :alien: powers are only used for the good, and usually for a good laugh after I open it within a minute or 2. People are always locking their keys in their car at my job. :help: I have even opened one in front of a locksmith who tried for 30 minutes, I opened it within 5, Man the expression on his face was priceless..... :banghead: Even offered me a job :sign5:

my cousin had a 02 neon with a super nice stereo.
he went into the grocerystore for 5 min and when he came out, his window was busted and his head unit was gone. they didnt damage anything but the window. all the dash and radio were unscrewed and laid neetly in the cup holder. all the wires were sniped or unpluged. they were pros. probably what happend to you.
my jeep.....i dont even bother to lock the doors (when they are on).
the windows just unzip. my luck they will still slice the window.
i hate thiefs. worthless scum.

hah!
$30 buck off ebay. programed it last night. works great.

if anyone needs the programing instructions instead of paying an extra $10 let me know and ill hook you up.....
wait. why dont i just type it up now.

1. SIT IN CAR WITH DOORS AND WINDOWS CLOSED.
2. LOCK DOORS WITH POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH ON DRIVER'S DOOR.
3. PUT IN AND PULL OUT KEY FROM IGNITION APPROX. 8 TIMES OR UNTIL YOU SEE THE HAZARD/TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS FLASH.(older models lights may flash after 4 or 5 times) YOU NEED TO DO THAT IN LESS THEN 10 SEC
4. WHEN HAZARD LIGHTS FLASH (ON 2005 AND NEWER MODELS THE GAUGE NEEDLES MAY JUMP A LITTLE INSTEAD) , PUT KEY IN IGNITION AND TURN TO THE ACC POSITION.(when your hazard lights flash your car is sending a signal to be received by the remote)
5. PRESS LOCK BUTTON ON THE NEW REMOTE, LIGHTS SHOULD FLASH AGAIN.

IF YOU HAVE 2 REMOTES, 1 NEW AND 1 OLD OR 2 NEW ONES, PLEASE CONTINUE WITH STEPS 6 AND 7. IF NOT, SKIP TO END.

6. PRESS UNLOCK BUTTON ON DRIVER'S DOOR, THEN LOCK BUTTON ON DRIVERS DOOR, LIGHTS WILL AGAIN FLASH
7. PRESS LOCK BUTTON ON 2ND NEW OR OLD REMOTE. LIGHTS AGAIN WILL FLASH.

YOU ARE DONE. EXIT VEHICLE AND TRY YOUR REMOTE. IT WILL NOT WORK FROM INSIDE CAR OR WITH KEY IN IGNITION.

Note: if your hazard lights flash after inserting your key in and out, but you can't get the remote to program, you may have a dead battery or the wrong remote. If instructions do not work, do it again but when you get in - shut the door, buckle seat belt and lock doors, then proceed to putting key in ignition
