What about a d-ring shackle mount for the factory towhook locations? I thought since the factory hooks hang down a little low not use these? I'm going to fab up some heavy duty ones at work and see how well they work. Whats everyones thoughts on these?

Not a bad idea but I can see these being a liability for anything other than a dead-on level tow from the front.

If you need to be pulled from the side or from a higher altitude (especially if you're nose-down stuck at the base of a hill) the bumper is going to take some pressure and induce a lot of rub on the strap, and you might possibly run over the strap as well (or even chance it getting wrapped around your tire given the right conditions). Though on the other hand, I suppose if it's an all-or-nothing situation then it'd be better to risk damage to bumper and strap than not being recovered at all.
