I am trying to fool the ECU on the XterraRacer. I don't know what resistor I need to buy.

At operating temp the sensor reads .200 Ohms, cold it reads 1.185 Ohms. I want to unplug the sensor and install a resistor that will give the normal operating temp value.

How many watts and what type of resistor do I need to buy? Too many options!

Please only input if you know what you are talking about here. "THANKS"

That part I understand but, they have many different styles of resistors and various watt ratings. I want to install the proper one the first time.

I found a 10 watt .200 Ohm wire wrap chasis mount alum. cased with fins. I think it is what I need but, I want to be sure.

Hello XterraRacer

Go to page 1698 of the Digikey catalogue. The "Ohmite 10 Series Molded Silicone Axial Lead Wire Element Resistor" should work for you. Either of the 13FR200E-ND or 15FR200E-ND should work for you. Both parts are under $2.

Good luck with it.
