Okay, I have a serious need for help, because i have *No Idea what im doing.

Here is what im working with. The lights are connected and grounded and I have all the wires hooked up to the relay. Red=power. Blue=ground. Blue covered wire (black)= to both lights. Yellow=to switch

Now, this is my predicament. The switch that i am using isnt the factory one, its a rocker switch. here is a pic of both....
FACTORY:

REPLACEMENT SWITCH:

Here is a diagram of the new switch.

Remember it is a Four Prong switch not six (even though the diagram shows six)

**This is my question: Where does the Yellow wire connect to (from the relay) and what other wires do i run (I assume that i only run three since the original switch had only three connections. And i would like for these lights to run totally independent of my driving lights.

Sorry for the long post but i need help!! Thanks in advance.

Hummm I am unsure of what this new switch is all about, in 4 wire switches sometimes the 4th wire is for illumination of the switch when off. Then it changes color when on.

But, you can take the + power from the lights and hook it to the old switch Load and it will light those lights. As long as the switch gets a power and a ground.

I'll PM you my Cell, I am driving to NJ you got until 4am to call me!
I'll be back up at like 11 am and off and on. MC

Here is the pin mappings. Muzikman will correct me if I am wrong.

Pin 5: Ignition on Power 12+
Pin 4, or 6: Connect to the Hella relay
Pin 2: Chassis ground (This provides the switch light)

Make sure the other side of your relay is on chassis ground.

Hope this helps.

Yep, that would be right.

One suggestions. The way I wired my Hella's was to pull the +12v from the parking lights using a vampire tap. I tapped into the wire for the front drivers side marker light and then used liquid electrical tape to seal the tap.

What this does is only allow the lights to be turned on if the parking lights are on. This way you don't mistakenly flip the switch for the Hella's, get out of the X and let the battery die. I also figured that any time I want to use the lights I'll probably want the parking lights on as well. You can also wire them into the low beams the same way so that they will only come on with the low beams and shut off if you flip to hi beams.

Glad to see you are getting it worked out, makes it a lot easier on me when I get ready to add lights on mine. Where are you mounting your Hellas?

These are going on my shrock front bumper. I didnt tap into the parking lights or headlights because they will never have a cover on them, and if i accidentally leave them on i will hopefully notice (shame on me if i dont).

But I have another pair im going to mount on the roof later on (hopefully along with some air horns) and these will be tapped into the parking lights.

When i do that i will post it up.

When I installed my lights it took me twice as long as the bumper install did. It just seemed like a real PITA.

Muzikman is right in wanting you to go to another power source. You will leave them on. Like um my Dog turned mine on. Ok let me make another suggestion, Take the 5 terminal and run it to the ING ON Cig lighter POS Top Cig on dash or easier to get to, open the cup holder and quick tap the Pos wire going to the Cig Lighter in rear console. This gives you power on when truck IGN. is on (Running) and turns off when you turn off the key. Be sure your fuse is in line and close to your switch but also covered by fuse in Cig circuit (10 amp) Kinda too beefy.

I highly suggest this, It's only moving one wire, easy easy and worth it.
I think I have heard you say protection 1st? And bonus is, it's a down line circuit tap, a harness that you can cheaply replace, the MC rule.

For others that are doing Mods and want a few, You can run a line from that ING circuit to the kick panel, put it on a breaker with terminals and use it for power for any switch the uses a relay that runs anything you don't want left on. When using a relay, the power to trip the relay in very very small and this circuit can handle it easily.

One side would be power in from Rear CIG POS and other one you terminal and put POS to any switch that will trip a relay.

Anything hooked to that will not tun on unless key is on. MC

I used '1' to the relay, '2' as a ground, and '5' straight to power.

A couple of questions here: I have this same switch and connected it the way Kokopop suggested. It works, and the light comes on when the switch is turned on, but it looks like there is another LED that should light when the switch is in the off position so you can locate it in the dark. I thought it should also light up the label of the switch (in my case: Rear Lights). Am I missing a connection (second ground or second Pos connection) to make the bottom of the switch light in the off position? This is where I got the switch: http://www.4x4mods.com/Product/Jeep/Rockerswitches/rockerswitch40.html It is part #RS41P (DPST).

MC: For future use (when adding more lights), could you elaborate more on how the breaker is installed, voltage and amperage required, and how to mount/connect it. Also, can more than one switch be connected to the breaker (so only one tap is needed into the cig lighter power)?

I do not think there is a 2nd LED on the switches. I have the same ones, so I'll take a closer look, but I am pretty sure there is only one light.

Now, you could wire it so that the light comes on when the switch is off and the light woild turn off when the switch is on.

I think that would be more useful than lighting up when they are on. I like the looks of our stock switches so you see the name when headlights are on. So how should I wire it to get the light on when the switch is off? Maybe I should have bought the DPDT instead. Would that light up in the off and on position (function light on when in the up position and a marker light on in the down position: which is what I thought I was getting).
