HID Retrofit Project

After 6+ months, the project is complete. I received them yesterday from the professional retrofitter and they look great. Unfortunately, 6+ months ago, I had more cash to play with, but with my wedding coming in December, that really isn't the case now. Also, having my Xterra parked on the street in NYC means it's an invitation to theft.

So, I may be looking to sell. I'm really disappointed as I really wanted these.

Anyways, here are the pics. I have more hi-res pics that I can email.

For the guy who IM'd be earlier in the week, hit me up on PM (you've got first dibs). The price isn't for the faint of heart though. This was a really $$$ project.

A guy that does mostly Honda retrofits on the HID Planet Forums (http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/).

His work is very good as seen in the pics. This is a link that has some of his work http://www.hondasociety.com/board/showthread.php?t=117929
Audi RS6 Projectors: $325
Philips HID Kit: $400
New headlights from dealer: $360
Custom wiring kit: $75
Labor: $250

Total is $1410. I'll do $1450 shipped/insured. This is what I paid (actually less since I paid for shipping of the parts to me, and then to the installer). No profit.

Yeah, yeah, I know its the price of a front and rear Shrock. Not everybody's priority is in offroading.
is all the chrome flaked off of the bottom part of the reflector in that second picture?
I can look tonight when i get home. might just be a reflection of the curtains.
I know you had to buy new headlights from the dealer but it seems like i should not be taking the hit for that!! So... Catalyst they are all yours... IF HE DOESNT COME OFF THE PRICE $350
wow! they look great! too bad you cant keep them. do you know how th remove the back reflector plate and if there is gaskets to keep moisture out?
*cough* wait, 1450? ouch. Sry no longer interested unless you come down in price. Thats a little steep for my blood, i would think expensive as about 1k?

How are you taking a hit? If you ask a dealer now, the price is still the same. They're still $180 apiece. Besides, why should *I* take the hit if I'm selling everything at cost?

And you really don't need to yell. If you weren't interested, just say so.

Sorry. I didn't do the work so I don't know how the installer removed the back reflector plate. I know he had to heat up the lamp to separate the lens from the rest of the housing and yes there is a rubber gasket.
I'd like to compare them installed on a dark road to my Hella Black Magics. I bet the range is about the same. MC
interested..... are the ballasts Hella Gen 3?? or the Gen 4 slim lines???

also which D2S bulb??? are they the normal rated 4300K Philips, or the second gen 4300K philips bulb??

fro others.. they are the same rated bulb, the second en are alittle brighter, and will dispirse more light and color.....

do you any pictures of the rear of the housing.??

i did a retrofit in my last car.. an 03 Hyundai Tiburon with Bi Xenon projectors.... a huge pain in the ass to line up the projectors correctly.....
I got them from here --> http://www.hidplanet.com/ballasts.html

The top is for ballasts only, the bottom is ballasts, covers, and bulbs which is the package I got.
the headlights are easy to pull apart, I had them apart and painted black inside of an hour. you can get a good HID kit on ebay for 150-175 and I don't know about the projectors. the brunt of the work (and therefore cost) is as mentioned in aligning and mounting the projectors, those things are a bitch to line up properly and seal. Did we ever determine if that second picture had the chrome cracked off?

the "kits" you get off ebay are not even close to the same quality of ballasts and bulbs unless you get true Hella ballasts and Phillips bulbs off ebay...

most kits on ebay and around the net are knock off D2S bulbs that are "rebased" and either melted or fused to a different base to accomadate the different size headight buylbs, ie. H1, H3, H7, 9004, 9006, etc..

resealing the headlamp is not some much a pain as is mounting and aligning the projectors....
