So, i bought an 06 Titan swapped Xterra Off Road with 80k miles on it. I bought it with the intention of learning more about cars, but i am finding myself slightly over my head, and i need to fix her because i am moving soon and need to pull a medium sized trailer.

I need to replace the shocks (front and back) and coilovers, But i don't know what kind i have in the front.

  • I have 33" tires on it.
  • Steel Bumper with winch.
  • Skid Plates.
  • No lift Kit, it's "lifted by the suspension"? (what someone told me, i don't know if it's true or not)

I know i have BSN-F4BE5A463H6 in the back, Will BSN-33-186542 Be a suitable replacement?

What will be a 1 for 1 swap in the front?

I don't mind upgrading specs as long as no extra machining is required.

I talked to someone from PRG, he said he would send me a link to what i needed, then he ghosted me.

ANY help will be greatly appreciated.

You need to measure the rear shocks eye to eye and then take the rear shocks off and measure how long they are. Then contact nisstec or rugged rocks and they'll get you ordered up.

For the fronts, just call nisstec, ado, rugged rocks and have them order you some shocks specifying titan swap. Then sell the ones you have.

I've been trying to deal with this for months and it took Nisstec 30 minutes to get back to me with exactly what i needed/ my options and lead times. THANK YOU.

i wasn't gonna name names. but yeah....
I have no problem publicly blasting Greg and PRG. They have a very very long track record of taking immediate payment and taking months and month and months to follow thru, almost always promising delivery of parts within a few days. Search Greg PRG and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The shocks / struts are all bad with just 80k on the X?

Something to consider is what you will be using the vehicle for, aside from the upcoming tow... I'm guessing at least some off-roading as you went for a ride with pretty serious existing suspension upgrades. The leaf springs have been upgraded along with the T-swap. Stock leaf pack is three leaves + the overload, your pics show four leaves + an overload. It also has a u-bolt flip kit, which improves ground clearance.

Replacing the stock rear bump stops with Sumo springs or Timbrens will improve the X's behavior for towing. They provide progressive support when the rear end is loaded down with extra weight.

i bought it in this condition, but i would like to go off-roading once i get the shocks replaced.

I'm looking at the sumo springs website and wow, That makes total sense. would 2006 Nissan Xterra Vehicle Suspension - Timbren (etrailer.com) be my best option?

And do you have any other recommendations?

Also, So far I'm ordering
- Bilstein 33-186542 5125 to replace the F4-BE5-A463-H6 i have on it. I am assuming the H6 is the improvement revision identifier, but i can't find a manufacturers spec sheet. Can anyone confirm or deny?

How heavy is the load you'll be towing? Timbren and Sumo Springs both work well, so it's really up to which option sounds best to you. To be completely transparent... I have not used either of these on my X yet (nothing to tow right now) but did run Sumo Springs on an '84 F-150 back when I owned a lawn care business. They eliminated rear end sag and improved stability when towing a 20' trailer loaded with equipment.

From your pics in the 1st post, it looks like the front struts have a 2.5" OD body. The connection to the top plate has me thinking they are Radflo's but I'm not 100% sure. If you have some clearer images it'll help the expert crew here ID your coilovers more easily.

I'm a believer in plan out your build and buy once. The 2" body Bilsteins are a good entry level shock but keep in mind, the existing ones on your X are already in need of replacement. If your X was my ride, I would be looking at the 5160 series Bilsteins from Nisstec ($450.99 a pair). The remote reservoir greatly improves cooling which results in longer shock life. The Dobinson's 0-3" lift IMS rear shock ($550 a pair at Z1 Offroad) is worth a look too; they have a 2.2" body, which increases cooling vs the 5125 Bilstein, and they are rebuildable.

nisstec told me to buy the wrong parts (i double checked with them 3 times and they assured me i was buying the right parts, then they said "i didnt explain well enough". i bought the correct parts and they said they would be in by the end of the week (this was in july). They still haven't sent the parts and as of mid-October they have ghosted me.

i just don't know what to do.

The 33- p/n above is what Nisstec recommended and you are sure your Xterra currently has the F4-BE5-A463 shock on it?

From what I can tell both of the p/n's you listed would be too long for an Xterra unless it has at least 4" of rear lift.

What are the p/n's for the pieces you are waiting on from Nisstec?
