Since November every now and then my car will do a hard start, I wiggle the wires to the right of the spark plugs? (I dont even know I’m not super familiar with cars) and it will come back on. I took it to the mechanic a couple weeks ago and he said without it actually doing the hard start it’s hard to diagnose and he doesn’t want to suggest unnecessary solutions and parts which I understand. It hasn’t done it since then, been probably three or so weeks, except for of course today, the day before I am supposed to leave for a road trip. It’s done it three!!!! Times today when it’s only ever been once every couple days so I’m truly at a loss on what to do especially since it hasn’t done it in weeks! Voltage is reading good on battery, sparks and plugs aren’t even two years old, other than that I’m at a loss on what else to look at. Don’t know if I take the gamble and the car breaks down a couple hours away or drop the money for a rental in the morning. Any advice??

More information could be helpful.
Pics of the wires could be helpful.

What is your battery condition like? New, old, ancient? Are your battery cables tight?
Do any cluster lights light up when you have a hard start? Cluster stays dead?
Does the engine crank and no fire, or crank and trys to start but stalls?
What maintenance needs done, or do you stay up good for maintenance?
Year, and mileage?
