I was back at the dealership today since they were nice enough to swap out my steel wheels for the alloys and noticed they still had the off road edition I wanted and I got to take a good look at it and noticed that it was a 4x2? I don't get it? I nearly got stuck in the mud behind our subdivision in my 4x2 and yet this one is an off road edition?

Funny thing is that the OR 4x2 doesn't have a locker but yet the Nismo 4x2 Fronty does. :cyclopsani:

They aren't rare in these parts (AZ). Tons of 4x2 ORs at the dealerships, but very few 4x4's

My sales guy asked me which edition I wanted and I said the OR. He knew that I was after one in 4wd but he couldn't resist so he asked if I would want to have one that was a 4x2 and just gave him this look and he started to laugh. He knew what I was going to do. There wasn't a single one in this state, NC, or MD when I was looking and I really didn't want to wait for the couple of months so I just got the S edition instead. I'm fine with it as is for now.

same thing happened to me, ideally i would have gotten a 4x4 or 6speed mt, but since my mom paid for some of the car, she would only buy me a car with the side air bags, luckily i found a 4x4 s 6mt only 200 miles away.

The car was in such high demand because of the airbag package, that the dealer that had it refused to locate it to another dealership for the wholesale price. I had to go through two local dealerships before i just sucked it up and drove out with my sister to pick it up myself.

alot of people are locker crazy, and i seem to get the vibe that everyone thinks of the S, X or SE as a "grocery getter" but with the 4 wheel abls, you dont need the locker unless your doing serious rock climbing. Ive been very impressed so far with how the abls performs.

other than that, to get the OR your just paying for cheap skids, "better" ( i think they look worse) wheels and shocks.

thats my $00.02

I am definitely not a serious rock crawler. My X is to carry me and my gear to the trailhead, but I have had to use my locker already. The locker adds a certain amount of security if you are in the back woods with no one to help you get out if you are stuck...

Well, just my 2 cents, I never considered a Stick because I shift all day, but after the trails we did and seeing the problems the sticks had, I'd never consider one for sure. Auto all the way. whap whap whap, go down a hill with an 05+ X in low and you shall see we have plenty of hold back on a decline.

As far as 4X2 that would be ok with a Locker and a winch. It would be locked a lot though, not that great for wheeling. But good on gas and speed.

Well, maybe 3 cents. MC
