Now this is a very good idea in an emergency for starting fires when you don't have any matches. . . .

Great tip, thanks for sharing. I saw on survivorman the other night hw he used a Frito (yes, frito) corn chip to keep a small fire lit as he transfered it from one point to another. They're so greasy, just hold a flame to it and it'll ignite.

that is great, if it gets wet just dry it on the sun and it's ready to go

I don't know where I first saw that, but I've used it several times. I don't even consider it a "backup/emergency" method, I use it as my primary method sometimes, works like a charm.

30 min Road flare. Works great

Cotton ball with some Vasilene rubbed into it Using a flint striker Works in wet conditions

Steel wool, can use a Cell phone battery (*). 2 dble AA's. will work great
* NOTE: this is a good way to fry your Cell phone, once you re-attach your battery. :)

Lots of small wires in the X, for grounding to make sparks. Or use the Main battery too.

Or yank out the Heep's wires & battery, before the X! :)

I posted that in Off Topic a couple days ago. :)
Damn, when I posted this, I kept thinking; "I've seen this somewhere". Muzikman - thanks for the heads-up.
