Gentex mirror instal

Hi i having been viewing the previous threads of people installing the Gentex 50 mirror with the home link on the xterra. I know nothing really about installing this kind of stuff in a vehicle so i was going to have the dealer install it. They quoted me $316.00 for 3hrs of labor which is kind of outrageous. What are my options for getting this installed?

DIY You can do it, take it step by step and do it yourself. All the instructions are here, you can buy a lot of tools for $300 eh? Just relax, buy the mirror and the tools and read up, I bet you can do it in 2 hours. I'd run the wires 1st and then install the mirror, I like to work backwards to the final result. Don't pay anyone, get help here, or have a friend help or both. $ave the cash. MC
Agreed! This is an easy mod to do. Just take your time. You spend more time actually looking, than doing work. Make sure you have small thin screw driver to remove the existing mirror and a coat hanger to do some wire fishing through the firewall grommet.
Actually, this is true. It's not as hard as you would think. It really took me about 3 1/2 hours to do it, but I like to work slow and complete. It was such a great feeling though when it was all hooked up and worked [email protected] Really having the compass and temp gauge and HOMELINK is AWESOME, and a very much worth it mod.
