Ill be taking my x down to gatlinburg for a camping trip this weekend. I wanted to know if anyone in the area can suggest a spot they like. I would like to end up somewhere back country like, but I want to camp out of the truck. I'd prefer not to be at a campground, but if there are any you have really liked ill take those suggestions as well.

I think there are a few new Cade's Cove. I was looking at doing the same, just camping out in the mountains. I saw a few spots when I googled it but can't remember them now.

The only times I've camped there (Twice) I camped with friends at a campground called Elkmont. It's car camping and it is a campground, but it's right next to a stream and pretty far into the mountains. You can usually hear the elk bugling. Haven't done much off the beaten path camping up there, but good luck and post what you wind up doing!
