So, I wondering about all the other Next Gens fuel filter. Is is the same as the '08 model in that it's considered a "maintenance free" item?

I was checking the manual and it's a part of the fuel sending unit/fuel pump assembly and I'm assuming when that unit needs changing that's when you get a new filter.

I also noticed you gotta drop the tank to do it. Looks like a fairly complicated task.

Also, is anyone doing anything extra to maintain a clean system being that the filter can't be changed regularly such as BG service or just adding fuel system cleaner to the tank more frequently?

I dunno about the fuel filter. I just use heet every few tanks to get the water out of the gas tank. does a good job in my opinion. I'll deal with the fuel filter when time comes to change it.

I got a new filter when they replaced my FSU at 30K miles (the FSU, pump, and filter are all one assembly).

At each oil change, I add a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner (the black bottle). I don't really know if this does anything, but I feel better about adding it.

Well, I'm gunna add a bottle of some sort of cleaner at least every oil change. Techron concentrate or BG K44. I agree. I don't know if it will help but it will make me fell better also!
