yeah I know what you mean. I'm your height and when I wash my truck I can't even reach the front of the cab if I'm standing on the bedrail. I have to lay on my stomach on the roof to reach right along the top of the windshield. i feel your pain!
I bought one one of those long wands with a soft rag pad on the end. Does wonders for those hard to reach places.
That was one cool thing the dealer here threw in for me. Free car washes for life  It was pretty funny the first time I showed up with the rig full of mud. Also helps with keep the truck free of salt/de-icer in the winter.
Been too cold to wash the X the last month. Snowing and wind chill below 0 right now. I don't think it has been above 40 either, and really don't want to freeze everything.
If you have a Sam's Club membership, they have a 5 piece auto brush kit with the long handle brush included that the hose attaches to (like the car wash) that runs about $20. Not bad deal, and works pretty good.
another reason to get shrock sliders... so you can reach up high when washing
know exactly what you mean. its a super pain to wash it, and also to dry it. the roof is the only hard part.
Yup, same problem here. I'm 5'8" also. When I had the Tundra, the roof wasn't bad, I could stand in the bed. With the X, I need the tires and the sliders to get the roof, plus the use of a small step ladder.
I go to "Quality scrub" car wash, everytime i get a car wash i get 20 cents off of my tank of gas. So then i can let all the little highschool kids pick each other up to dry the thing off.
just washed/waxed mine recently..... i'm 6'1 but i still need the side steps to reach the roof to di it right. I even took off the nissan shield and cargo box up there....

she is nice and shiney now...

:)
just go to auto zone and pick up a soft brush on a stick, makes washing it quick and easy.

Not to hijack the thread...much, can you post some pics of the X without the cargo box and shield?

Lowhombre,
I run mine through the touchless carwash on S. Virginia in front of the mall. It works pretty well. Also I'm 6'4" and I still need to climb on the sliders to get the roof clean when I do it myself.
Yea, I've got the same problem trying to reach the roof....oh wait..no I don't, I can see right over it. :bounce:
I'm 5'6" and the X with 33s and a 2" lift I have to stand on the tires to get to the middle of the roof.

my brothers a detailer, he uses clay bar gets the contaminates out of the paint. He uses all stuff you cant get in stores, but for the stuff we can buy at auto zone, he seems to like the Meguire's products. for the dash he uses Meguires quick interior detailer, which gives it a non-greasy satin finish. Another trick he uses is tire shine in the wheel wells, it makes it look like it just came off the lot.
here's my NE winter wash technique([email protected]):
products:
coin-op powerwash soap
megs last touch qd
prestone quickshine
OCW (Optimum Car Wax- spray wax)
eagle one tire/wheel wash
armour all detailer advantage tire foam
megs interior qd
megs NXT glass cleaner

method:
1. eagle one on tires and wheels
2. power wash and rinse
3. mf towel dry windows
4. last touch qd, exterior
5. vac
6. drive home
7. armor all tire foam
8. prestone quickshine
9. OCW
10. last touch qd, wheels and jams
11. megs interior qd over all interior surfaces
12. nxt glass cleaner, front and rear glass

thoughts:
"new"(used A2Z in the past) eagle one tire/wheel - great stuff, not as "harsh" as A2Z?
armour all tire foam - nothing great on tires, worked good in wheel wells
prestone quickshine - will miss this stuff when gone, any other cheap, good carnuba qd's out there?
last touch - better cleaning abilities than I thought, but still better suited for "gloss enhancing"
OCW - slick and shiny
megs interior qd - go to stuff
megs nxt glass cleaner - better than eagle one glass cleaner

Overall - was happy with my "detail in a bottle", looked pretty good - but here in the N.E.
ya gotta make do I guess
