Nice thread!

Interesting to see the differences from 2013 to 2014/15 on the PRO-4X Nav...

Not sure if relevant here, but the dealer recently updated my '14 Nav firmware (he called it software though) that allows me to pause, rewind and fast forward the SiriusXM radio channels, plus some other minor things. Neat feature...

I always used Scoche for all my past installs and this was my first time using a Metra dash kit. They both have easy to understand directions on how to install your new radio. I found that with the Metra kit I had to do a little bit more adjusting than I wanted to, but that could be because of the way the Xterra stock dash is made. Over all i like the Metra Kit.

Question about OEM hi upgrade.
I have a 2013-2014 s from factory. I picked up a 2015 s for $70 and swapped it in. My swc work but I cannot pair my phone to it. I was hoping to take advantage of the apps and us the phone through BT. Is there a harness for this or did I buy a $70 boat anchor? If the answer is posted I have searched but it seems that most are swapping to after market. I am not that big of an audiophile and like the factory look. Thanks for your help!

Reviving an old post I know, however I was looking to do the same thing. 2015 stereo into a 2014. Did you ever find a resolution?

Thanks for posting this up!! I Swapped my 07 Headunit with one from a Juke that had an aux port. Then I upgraded to a Pioneer Avic I bought off someone on here and didn't like how it fit. I just received a Nav system from a 14 Sentra, same unit as used in the X, but didn't realize it was larger than a double din. Now to try and figure out how to do all the wiring and try to get it to fit. Luckily I got it at a steal for $150.

AVIC 8200-NEX in 2015 Pro-4X

Hello all,
First off, thank you to YuraX for creating this thread. It has given me a great starting point for my current project. I am about 3/4 of the way through installing a Pioneer AVIC 8200-NEX unit in my '15 Pro-4X. I have managed to retain: the OEM backup camera, the console USB and Aux ports, the Sirius XM antenna, the GPS antenna, and the steering wheel controls. No soldering or splicing will have to be completed in the dash. Everything has been wired using harnesses to connect to the OEM male ends already present. I will also be installing a second USB port to take advantage of the second one on the head unit. Fingers crossed, I will be completing the project this weekend, 2/18. After doing so, I will post a complete parts list and a rough guide to how this was accomplished.
How's that for a first post? :grin:

Regards,
Droidmaker

Finished the initial installation this morning. I am still awaiting two adapters to complete this project. When I have done so, I will post the promised items. As someone else has mentioned, the fit leaves a bit to be desired. All in all, I am satisfied, though.

Here is a final parts list for my Pioneer AVIC-8201NEX head unit. I managed to preserve all OEM connections (GPS, SiriusXM Antenna, backup camera, console USB/Aux interfaces), and I also to added another USB interface to take advantage of the second port on the head unit.

Assuming this is all correct, it turns out my Xterra is an S model, not an X. Only had it a month so maybe the dealer got it wrong when they sold me it.

Anyways, my radio is 100% the one matching a 2013 S in this list, and it says I should have bluetooth and steering wheel controls but it does not have either.

Does this mean all I need is a plug to make the bluetooth work?
I'm already in the process of figuring out how to add steering wheel controls, I thought it might be a plug n play thing but this now makes me wonder if theres a plug missing from the back of the head unit

Sorry I can't answer your question about the stereo, but to find out which trim level your Xterra has, try this:

Look at the GVWR sticker in the door frame for the model (not vin) number and note the 6th character.

My 2012 FSM states that the 6th character of the MODEL number tells what trim level it is.

Q= X
R= S
U= Pro 4x
T= SV

7th is transmission

N= AUTO
Y= MANUAL
From this post:
https://www.thenewx.org/forum/4237394-post47.html

There is also this VIN decoder that sometimes can find the trim level, but it seems to be down at the moment.

My 6th number/digit is 0, so it must have changed with the other things in the 2013+ years. Bah! Haha

There was no SV model is 2013 either
You're right about there being no SV trim.

Per the 2013 FSM there's three trim options.

Q: X
R: S
U: PRO-4X

The 6th digit of the model code will show you which of these trims you have. Either you're seeing a Q as a 0, or more likely you're reading the VIN. You need the model code on the GVWR sticker that I mentioned earlier.

I think pretty much all Xterras have a VIN number with 0 as the 6th digit. So that's not what you're looking for.

Once again... Model Number. Not VIN.

Just found this, had never noticed this thread before:

Haha, oh man. We use VIN #s, not model numbers, to identify cars when writing service, so I just read the 6th digit being as related to the VIN and just missed it. My bad

Well, this is weird:

My model number is TLKVLRNN50EUA so according to what you posted it should be an S model, but below that it says COLOR: QAK TRIM: X

So unless the TRIM: X is a different indicator than the actual vehicle trim, something is screwy here.

The trim listed on the door jamb isn't the model version. My S says X there under trim too, I think every Xterra has an X listed there.
