Equal/Revos/TPMS

I swapped out my General Grabber and steel wheels today for some Revos. I mounted them on the Aluminum Xterra wheels which I found on Ebay. I told the shop about the Equal tire balancing stuff (which I already had purchased) he said bring it just in case.

When I went to swap out the tire/wheel set, he said that he used the Equal because he had a real hard time balancing the tires. We also had real issues with the lug nuts from the steel wheels attaching the factory aluminum wheels. In the end, we put them on . I checked w/ the dealership and they were basically useless. Looks like I will swap out the lugnuts that came w/ the steel wheels something better cause it seems like a funky fit.

Anyways, the TPMS light stays on, but the tires are as smooth as a baby's ass!

I went with the "C" load range, and thats a much firmer ride, I think the "D" or higher load range might be a bit much for mostly highway stuff...

watch your words fastbrake. You are in some pretty dangerous waters with what you are sayin. I mean, i understand where you are coming from, but dont put down something that alot of people find fun to do, and put a lot of hard work into.

being a helicopter pilot must be a blast, but think about those guys that are stuck on the ground like me, want to have fun, dont beat their truck, but give it a couple good dings and scratches that can be fixed. I mean, look at legos or erector sets. Building them as kids was a ton of fun, addicting as hell, but as soon as they were built, it was like, meh ill play with it a while. Here you get that same addiction from building up your rig, but then you get the addiction of off roading as well. Just cuz some tires doesnt fit (which i feel bad about) doesnt mean its a waste of money, just a big learning experience.
nah I'm with fastbrake, you have to draw the line somewhere. I love my X, that's the damn reason I traded in a car that chicks whistled at me for having, but there's reasonable amounts of money to spend, and then there's money that you wouldn't have had to spend had you purchased a jeep. plain and simple. I love this forum and I love my X, but I bought it for it's all around versatility and it's uniqueness...

and the fact someone can't break into it with a utility knife :)
WTF

Yo Catalyst,

Merry Christmas and thanks for the PM...

All the best

I think calling it stupid was what set the tone...

Either way, it's only stupid if you make it stupid. In my case, I put money into my truck because it's fun. Just like I spend money on snowboarding, or shooting. It's really what you make of it. I know how to off-road correctly and don't "trash" my truck. I'd be more inclined to say it's stupid of someone to dump a few G's into a truck and then wheel it like a noob.
OK lemme cap it here, this is not a forum to start any of this crap. many of us are defects from XOC, which is where anyone can be a douche to anyone, this is a place where we want to be able to have a bunch of friends helping out a bunch of friends, and contributing entirely useful information. if you don't like someone's choice, just say "it's not my taste, but good job!" and then use one of the *** smileys like so: :colors: :flower: :geek: :brilsmurf: and then we're still all cool. no need for tension, especially in a happy place like XTNG.
well put dragonplay!
it's been so nice here because we have a somewhat diverse group that covers guys like Kal-el and yourself that are into street rides to guys like ponyboy that have over-the-top OR rigs and everyone has been able to learn from one another.
as for the comments about offroading being stupid: anyone could say the same about anyone that would put 22's on their X but we don't, we just say "hey, i like the different approach"
To call someone's hobby stupid is not very nice. To say someon is stupid for buying a new vehicle and wheeling is not very nice.

People need to just learn that just because they don't do it or have any interest in it, that it doesn't automatically becomes stupid.

Two years ago I thought off road rigs were for hicks and hill-billies, I never took an interest and commented on why someone would need large mud tires driving around on the street.

I bought my Xterra because I wanted something that would get me from point A to point B when doing things such as camping, kayaking, biking, etc. I am very active outdoors, always have been. The week after I bought the X I took it out to find a Geocache that required either a very long hike or a nice drive down a dirt road (with a creek crossing).

I then found a local Xterra club and from then on I was hooked on wheeling. I also found out that not everyone what wheels are hill-billies! ;)

So yes, I bought a new X, modded it and beat it up pretty good. I then ran out and bought a built Jeep and do the same with it. I mod and wheel both. I spend a lot of money on what I do and enjoy it. Does that make me stupid? Maybe, but if I wasn't spending money on this, it would be something else.

I am glad you are happy with your purchase. I am glad that you have what works for you.

As I said in another thread.

If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I am still amazed that we can have over 550 members that get along, show mutual respect, and can disagree in a civil manner. Lets keep it that way.

rich and stupid

Hey Guys,

I did apologize, I'm the one that's stupid. When I made the comment rich or stupid, I meant that in the nicest possible way!!!

In the future, I'll choose my words a little more carefully. I enjoy this board a lot and appreciate all the great information you people provide.

So, I apologize and all of you have a most excellent Christmas and an awesome New Year...

Warmest Regards,

Yeah, I guess it's difficult to determine someone's "tone" through text.

Thanks, Fastbrake. Yet another reason why this place is 100x better than XOC. On a sidenote... I just peeled my XOC sticker off a couple days ago and replaced it with another smaller shrock sticker.
