So I have my spring formal coming up and we are going to Vegas, wondering if anyone knows of an I15 dirt or county road bypass like much of Colorado has in the plains. Ill ride in someones boring sedan and save gas money if not but thought I'd put it out there.

There are roads all over down there. (i.e. Ivins to Littlefield through the Joshua Tree preserve) Not sure if you can get from St George to Vegas on dirt, maybe someone from that area can chime in. Google earth is your friend, that and finding out if the route you plan is actually on an open designated route.

There are some cool side roads off of old HWY 191, but that only gets you to Littlefield. If you want to do a big detour, take Mt Trumball road to Toroweap in the Grand Canyon, but I think that would be a down and back route. I haven't been down there in a number of years.

There are roads that go from the south of St George over Whitney Pass to the Whitney Pocket, but your only way out at that point is back up to the Mesquite area and I-15, there is no crossing south of I-15 from the Gold Butte area to the Valley Of Fire side.
