Hello all, I wanted to share this video here because it is a great explanation of how your rear differential works and why a locking diff helps you climb. I became a much better wheeler when I truly understood how my vehicle worked.

For instance it is a bad idea to go downhill with the rear diff locked because it can cause rear steer. of course for climbing it is a huge advantage. on my Rubicon the front and rear axles can lock but when the front is locked you have virtually no steering. I understand why but many wheelers I was with just didn't grasp the concept so I set out to find an explanation for them and ran across this gem.
