Tire recall affects European exchange customer.

Customers in Europe who have bought Cooper tires at Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores since Sept. 1 should check those tires to determine whether theirs are in the group being recalled.

The Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has voluntarily recalled some Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE H-rated and T-rated tires because of a defect that could possibly result in a vehicle crash. According to AAFES officials, Cooper Tire has determined that some of the tires were produced with nonconforming belt wire coat stock. These tires could develop a belt separation because of their reduced ability to prevent corrosion of the steel wires in an instance where moisture reaches the steel belt.

If you have one of the following tires, return it for a free replacement at an AAFES facility:

• Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE (H-rated): Size: 185/65R15 88H; DOT numbers: 3DADC6D3206 or 3DADC6D3306; TD code: SLEH00551.

• Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE (T-rated): Size: 215/60R15 94H; DOT numbers 3D5JC893206 or 3D5JC893306; TD code: SLEH00557.
