I have been looking for a red Xterra for about a year and found a 2011 red Pro 4x and drove it yesterday. However, after more research, it doesn't seem to be living up to what a Pro4x is supposed to have. Does not have the fog lights on the roof, nor does it have a skid plate underneath. It does not have white display on the odometer as I've read a lot do.
How do I know if I am getting a legit 4x or if the badge has just been placed there?
They are asking $12,900 with 113K miles. Radiator and transmission replaced in 2018.
Any advice would be appreciated. I also did a vin check and attached it here.

No fog lights, no armor, no boob lights, no pro-4x rims, probably no RF stereo and steering wheel controls, or bilstein shocks I imagine. Seems like not the pro-4x trim to me. I think we have a vin “decoder” thread here somewhere to confirm the model (as long as the X’s vin matches the sheet)

Thank you for the responses... here is another fishy thing. I just purchased a carfax report and it is showing the 1st owner put over 200K miles on it. The second owner (who I am looking at buying from), is reporting (and showing on the odometer) that there are only 113K miles on it.
How does mileage jump from 242K from first owner to 93K for second owner?

Look for a "diff lock" button in the bottom of the center console. That is a pretty tell-tale sign. Also, if it is stock suspension, the PRO-4x has yellow Bilstein shocks vs other trims that have black shocks.

Really weird that it has that PRO-4x badge....? lol

Thank you! Can you direct me to the decoder thread or I can just look that up?
I’ll do some digging but not even sure if it was here or one of the other Nissan sites. Remembering from my searches for an X to distinguish the S from the base X trims through vin when pics didn’t show enough to tell.

Yep, def looks like "S" model like @SledheadX shows in that link. Someone put on the PRO-4x sticker. I vote walk away or offer $3k and cite "deception tactics"

I just got a 2011 PRO-4X. And researched the crap out of it. All 2011 PRO’s were 4x4 had skid plates Bilstein shocks roof lights and locker. The only option was leather or cloth. That one also doesn’t have fog lights and has 5 spoke wheels, 200% an S. All pro’s and off-road had fog lights and 6 spoke rims.

So that is not a 2011 PRO-4X period.

And someone tampered with the mileage since it doesn’t track on Carfax. I was looking at a 2006 off-road that the guy said was 1 owner and 161,000 miles. Carfax showed it had 5 owners and was sold at auction with 287,000 miles then sold a 6th time and flagged for false mileage reported at 161,000. When I confronted the guy he said he didn’t know that and turned out the title wasn’t even in his name and was signed by the previous owner.

Run away from that 2011.

Thank you all for your advice... I had a 40 minute conversation with the dad of the 20 year old gal whose car it is, and he is devastated. They know they were lied to..
Because of my tedious research and all of your help, they came to find out it is an X model not a ProX. I don't really care about x or pro, I just wanted 4x4, preferably red. She just sent me a text:

"Checking KBB, and taking into consideration the new transmission, I will list it for $6,500. Let me know if you are interested."

They had originally listed at $12,900. She put in a new transmission and radiator in 2018 so I don't think she should take into consideration a repair she did 2 years ago. But oh well...
