Thought I would create a separate thread for this one, just to grab a little bit more attention.

Also found this;

How can you have a non-OR model, living in Eugene? ;-)

Seriously though, your posting's title implies that the Off-Road model Xterra comes with a Clutch Start Cancel switch. That isn't necessarily the case. My 2006 Xterra Off-Road doesn't have such a switch, and there is no option on the Nissan Canada website to configure such an option.

You gor ripped then dpatton - The clutch override is a standard feature on the 05/06.

Unless there is something unusual/different on vehicles sold in Canada, every 4WD truck with a MT I've ever owned in the past 30 years, has had the Clutch Start Cancel (Bypass) Switch.
It appears that Xterras sold in Canada do not have the Clutch Start Cancel feature. Mine doesn't, and I'm not the only one:

It's a feature that is listed in the specs for 2007 USA models:
http://www.nissanusa.com/xterra/specifications.html
but it's not listed for the Canadian models:
http://nissan.ca/en/vehicles/specifications/specifications.asp?series=8

I think it's probably because in 2003 the Canadian Government's Motor Vehicle Safety Act was modified, in part, to say:
If a passenger car, multipurpose passenger vehicle or truck has a GVWR of 4 536 kg or less and is equipped with a manual transmission, a motor used for the vehicle's propulsion must not be started by setting the ignition switch to the position used to start the motor unless the clutch pedal is depressed or the drive train is otherwise disengaged.
Essentially, the Act mandates that vehicles have either a Brake Shift Interlock(automatic transmission) or Clutch Ignition Interlock(manual transmission). You can read more about it here:
http://canadagazette.gc.ca/partII/2003/20030618/html/sor189-e.html

My guess is that Nissan Canada interprets The Act to mean that the Clutch Start Cancel switch would not be allowed, because it bypasses a safety feature mandated by The Act.

If somebody in the USA with a 2006 Off-road Xterra with manual transmission does some research, maybe we can figure out if it is possible to add the switch to Canadian models, and by extension, to non-OR models. The two things I'd suggest are:
1)
Call a US dealership, and get the part number for the Clutch Start Cancel switch, as well as any 'associated parts'(e.g. wiring harness, etc).
2)
Take some pictures and make some notes about how it is installed in the US models.

Anyone in the US willing to do this?

i'm pretty sure the clutch start cancel switch is an american thing, and they dont need to depress the clutch to start the car in canada
That's the whole point! The clutch start cancel IS "an american thing".
In Canada you DO have to depress the clutch pedal to start the X, and there is no option available from Nissan Canada to add the clutch start cancel feature.
I took a look at some info in the service manual today. Looks like there are "four key parts" to make this work:
- the switch that is on the clutch pedal lever
- a relay that is up under the dash
- the clutch interlock switch in the dash(with the Cancel light)
- a relay in the engine compartment

I just checked, and in my Canadian 2006 OR (which does not have the Clutch Interlock Switch), the relay in the engine compartment doesn't exist, and there is no wiring going to the place for the relay. I haven't checked to see if the relay under the dash exists, or if the connector for the clutch interlock switch exists.
I checked at the local dealership - here are the part numbers:
- 25230-79918 relay that is up under the dash ($41.31)
- 25325-EA000 clutch interlock switch in the dash ($120.35)
- 25230-79963 relay in the engine compartment ($36.61)
Those prices are Canadian dollars.
