Hmmm...I think it would work pretty simple. The Frontier grill just glips in in like 8 spots or so. Hmm....it would make painting the grill easier since the X grill isn't chrome. Dammit, now that hampster wheel is turning again and the bank account is bleeding.

Your mechanic is right. You can swap out the front end as a whole (grille, bumper, headlamps, hood, fenders and some misc. brackets) but not the grille by itself. The X's headlamps are a different shape than the Fronty's and the grille won't fit in between them.
