I found this on ebay. I'm not going to try it but someone might.

I had mine all apart about ready to do this way back, I did do some but decided against it because I could not find a topper that looked good. You can increase you approach angle like he says by moving the intake back like pictured here. Just remove inner fender and buy intake pipe for $20 and a rubber junction at Lowes, MC

It's cool, but from what everyone's said, we're not much for the deep water anyway. Something about the alternator being too low...?

Yea I was one of the some one's I found a lot of "Hole's" in any plans to go in deep. More than Alt. I can move the alt up higher and even put two on. But considering all the other "Leaks" it's a no go. I put the water resistant spray in my alt but I lean towards not testing it out unless I have to. http://www.hydrogenappliances.com/marine.html My policy is get ready to do it and hope you don't have to. But If I do, I'm going all the way through! But this would kill our X even with a snork.
watch it. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/72170/safari_snorkels/
I may install snork still out on it. Looks cool as all get out.

That vid is incredible!!! I thought that vid would be one of those... "Look what this idiot should have thought twice before doing," videos. I can't believe he pulls out of the river in reverse. That was AwesOME!
USMC is right. Not sure how functional we can be overall, but it looks great! And it's less filling.
you have to remember that snorkels are not only for water crossings/fording. They are also VERY useful in dusty desert scenarios by taking in air that is above the dust cloud from the vehicle in front of you...i really wish AC would come out with a snorkel like they said they would

Man you should see my air box, the bottom half is usualy caked in mud and dirt and I have to clean my filter after nearly every trip. I don't have the wheel well liners in right now since the old ones were trashed when I did the headers (not from the install).

I soo need a snork... Shrocks bumper rocks, but it move the intake to a very vunerable location by cutting the protecting wheel well away. Your intake ends up only having a small flap from the tire... So anything dusty or at speed in water or mud flings debree right into the well where the intake sucks the crap in... Especially dust.

I'm not a fan of AC... But at this point since finding alternatives is getting pricy... I'm game for anything reasnable.

Besides the alternator, diff breathers and intake what else is a problem with water forging. I was thinking of put a water proof alternator in the X and if a snorkel ever came out I would be sitten pretty.
