Can I get a lift and still fit....

Hey guys, I've got a 05 S model that is stock height. I'm really looking hard at the different lifts available and would like to lift 2-3 inches. However, my concern is that I have to park in a parking garage that has a clearance of 6'8". I know that I have some space to lift, but does anyone know the exact height of a stock, 05, S with the roof rack? I think I can get away with a 2.5 inch lift, but I also want to run 255 MTs at some point down the line. Is this possible, or will I be too tall with the lift and tires?

I have never measured, but I stay out of garage's less then 7 feet tall.
Mine scrapes the roof of the 7' garage here. I now have to park outside.

I have the AC coils int he front with AC Shackles and Calmini AAL in the rear with 285/75r16's.
I read a review on car and driver that said the the overall height was 74.9 inches. Well, 6'8" = 80 inches, right? That means I have 5.1 inches of room to lift before I scrape the ceiling. Is this correct?

What I don't fully understand is when one installs a 2.5" SL, do you get a full 2.5" of increased overall height?

Why not just measure it yourself? Regardless of what the specs may say, there are 'external factors' that can affect the height, so yours may be slightly different than another X(e.g. tire inflation, and size; fuel load; cargo load; passenger load).

Remove everything from your X, and make sure your tires are inflated properly. Park on a fairly level area. Place something 'long and straight'(e.g. a 2x4, etc.) across the roof rack, on top of the brackets that hold the tubular portion of the roof rack. Now measure from the ground to the underside of whatever you have on top of the roof rack. Do this a few times, with the 2x4(or whatever you use) in different positions. Take the maximum value you get as the height of your Xterra.

Oh man, you mean i have to do it myself. I thought thats what message boards were for. :compress:
J/K thanks for the measuring advice! I doubt I would have been smart enough to figure that out.
Mine is raised about two inches and have 285 tires,,,,,,doesn't fit the standard garage door! ( I dunno,,,7 feet ? )

Sacrifices of the modifications,,,,huh ?

Sorry,

78" to the top of my basket (the light-weight wire kind).
80" to the top of my custom-made lowered light bar but they fold down.
83" to the bottom of the gasket for the garage door seal.
84" to the frame of the garage door.

Looks like 2.5" to 3" for me with the lights up.

I got stuck in a 6'10" parking garage recently and had to take my Yakima off to avoid any damage. And I thought I was clever by still going in when I only just touched the swinging sign on the way in! lol.

We went into a garage in downtown PHX last night, the swinging sign said 6ft 5 inches, the antenna even hit it, as did the wire safari basket - found a parking space just after entering so don't know how close it would have really been !!!
