I got the infamous P0340 code last week along with slow starting and the VDC and Slip lights. I replaced the bank 1 cam shaft position sensor on Friday which fixed all the problems I was dealing with. What I'm wondering is should I replace the bank 2 while I'm at it? What about the crank shaft position sensor? I've heard you should do both at the same time and I've also heard don't fix it if it's not broke. Thoughts?

Mine just stalled while driving.
Some funky lights on the dash but no SLIP/VDC and no codes yet.
I am replacing all 3 to be safe (about $150).

Based on experience and the various threads on here, I'm going the replace all three route. I've had other vehicles stall when driving due to a faulty crank sensor and can say it's not ideal, especially in traffic. The vehicle decelerates quickly without the brake lights on, you lose power steering...not good in traffic.

websch.....your 2015 stalled while driving? What mileage is the 2015 vehicle at?

Most people replace all 3 at the same time, but that's just because of "might as well while you're in there." You never know when the others will fail. Could be the same weekend, could be in another 100k miles. At minimum, buy all three and keep them in the Xterra with a 10mm wrench (and whatever is needed for the crank sensor, I can't remember) and you'll have what you need in case the other ones fail. It's an easy 30 minute road side fix if you're prepared.

I found small leak in cylinder 3 sparkplug well. I plan to do all three sensors while replacing the valve covers. Waiting for the warmer weather.

Happy New Year!
With valve cover and intake off makes them alot easier. I didn't get htat memo and did them at a different time(like a month before I did valve covers)
