Do you guys think our rear bumper is strong enough to use as a recovery point with these installed?

Bumper D-Ring shackle mounts on e-bay

I'm thinking about removing my tow hitch, but then I'd need a recovery point. I'm just not sure if our bumpers are strong enough.

No. Not even close. You would rip the bumper off if you tried to use it as a recovery point.

Stick with the hitch. It also saves the rear bumper from getting smashed up.

I was thinking that the tow hitch was hurting the departure angle, but your right, the hitch will probably protect the rear bumper. I'd like to at least relocate the low hanging plug though.

i had the same idea a few weeks ago, but i decided the rear bumper would not be a good recovery point, it's likely it'll rip right off the car, bumpers are meant to be pushed on , not pulled.

So, how is the Shrock bumper mounted, so that it can be used as a recovery point and be able to tow class III?

Check this thread for an idea for relocating that plug.
Yeah, I remember seeing that how-to and it's what gave me the idea to relocate it.
