No, looking at the SM doesn't look like it.

Remove wheel
Take off brake calipers
Remove rotor
Remove axle center hub nut
Remove the 4 bolts that hold on the hub/bearing housing
pull axle shaft out

That looks to be the quick and dirty steps by looking at the SM.

Yeah, I discussed this with a friend and he pretty much said the same thing. I figured I'd ask before I started getting to work. Thanks for the prompt response. I appreciate it.

Two more Q's.

1. Does your SM say what size the axle center hub nut is. Deep socket?

2. Will I need to bleed the brakes in order to reinstall the caliper?

No, it doesn't say what size the nut it.

You will not need to bleed the brakes after. Just remember, do not press on the brake peddle while the caliper is off or you will blow out the piston.

How did you break an axle?

Where did you find a new one?

I broke it at Crozet, VA. I made a mistake and got myself hung up pretty bad. It snapped after numerous attempts to clear.

I'm not going to replace it. I'll be making a trip out to Colorado shortly to have the situation fixed permanently. Stay tuned... :bounce:

I *think* it's 1 1/4". When I did my swap I'm pretty sure that's the size I needed to buy.

I bet the front gear set is in pieces too. I like everything about my X except the disposable front drive. I'm gonna have to look at a titan to see if any of that would fit.
