My X is 3 months old and has 7k miles. A few weeks ago the rear brakes began making a squeaking noise. It's most noticeable first thing in the morning as I apply the brakes when backing out of the driveway. It's also noticeable as I go down the ramps in my parking garage after work. It's not the severe grinding you hear when the pads are shot and it doesn't seem to do it after that initial period. The X is stock other than having a tow package added when I bought it. I am not at all hard on brakes, I try to use them as little as possible. Is this normal? Should I take it back to the dealer and have them check it out? There's no way there should be any issues this soon!

It's normal. Mine has been doingi t for a very long time. It's brake dust. If you would like it to go away for a while, hit the brakes with some brake cleaner.

I have a feeling that the factory didn't use any anti-squeel lube on the pads when they put them together.

Funny story that is a long those lines.

Years ago when I was still in HS there was a kid (guy?) across the street from me who was 18 and still in 9th grade. He was obviously slow (can we just call him dumb?). Any way, he was outside spraying off his brakes. I walked over and asked what he was doing. He said the brakes were squeeking so he was spraying them with WD40. I just walked away and laughed.
