I have an 06 Xterra Off Road and am having the ABS, VDC, SLIP lights problem. I might as well add to my electronic toolbox and buy another scan tool for me. After 2 trips to the dealer, it should pay for itself. What is available now? I want to scan and diagnose ABS/SRS systems, engine and trans. Read my sensors in real-time. Reset or Cal steering angle sensor, etc. I also want the ability to cycle the ABS actuator when I bleed my brakes. I would like it to work on a variety of vehicles, not just Nissan. My budget is around $250. And go.....

If I remember correctly, and I'm too lazy to go out to the garage and look, I bought this one:
Actron-CP9695 AUTOSCANNER

Not sure if it will do all you want, but it is a place to start. It is made by Bosch.

I have a Blue Driver and an older Kiwi from PLX. I use both with the Torque app on my Android phone.

I can have a look this evening to see if I can access any of the functions you are asking about. Please note that Nissan locks down all the MODE 6 data so data like misfire counters are not accessible through any scanner, event the pro models costing killobucks.

The Torque app works with Bluedriver too????

Seems you have a pretty good idea of what you want to be able to do with it, that should help with decisions. I'm not very knowledgeable on these sorts of things, but I can share some limited experience. I have a Bullydog ($300-400) that I got primarily for turning, plus the extra monitoring, tranny temps, MPG, etc. And it does an ok job of reading and resetting codes it seems. But I decided to get a Bluedriver too ($100), as it seems a bit more robust for diagnostics, has a slick smartphone app, and I can use it on other vehicles (at least with OBDII). But I don't think it can do the transmission temperature and other monitoring as well as the Bullydog.

I found this one and it does everything I want. All my lights are gone. Slip light doesn't come on with light corners anymore. Apparently, when I installed my new stereo last week, I drained the battery down enough to produce some ABS faults that wouldn't clear. I cleared them all with this scan tool, then calibrated the steering angle sensor to 0, and calibrated the deaccelerometer as well. Will give a realtime printout of all the wheel sensors. This will cycle the ABS pump as well. Did it last night. Xterra runs great now.

There was one scanner that you mentioned and another Autel that specifically said ABS bleed. Just playing with it, it's under ABS, special tests, and allows you to toggle ABS relays for the actuator, module, etc separately. I'm not positive on how to do the bleed that way, but I can toggle all the ABS relays, motor, and actuator from this scanner. I still need to learn how to use all of it's functions. I haven't had a chance to really dig into it. So far, I'm impressed.

I have the same one you posted. I wonder if there was a switch in 09 with the 2.5 gens. I've seen others say they could actuate the abs on older 2nd gens

I was in hope the problem was in finding where the autobleed option was found at on the tool.

Not to vent, but sometimes electronic manufacturers will add an option into the oddest of places.

The auto bleed function is usually found in the reset function on these units. Autel and Launch Tech are excellent tools and many independent shops use them. I have the Launch X-431 Pro3 and have retired the Snap-on Solus Ultra as inferior and way over priced.

I purchased an Autel maxicheck on Ebay for what I think is a good price. Is this the same unit as in your link?

Sadly no I can't find that number. They where not real descriptive which makes me feel like they don't really know what it is they are selling. Their ebay add says the following;

"We are a small eBay staff in Idaho that specializes in USED/PRE-OWNED goods. We do our best to inspect and test everything, but we're far from experts.
We do maintain regular hours, so if you're asking questions later in the day or on the weekends an answer may be delayed.
We do NOT accept private offers via messages.
We want you to feel good about your purchase, if there is an issue with your item upon arrival just send us a message and we will do what we can to get it resolved! Your positive feedback is very important to us!

THERE'S MORE PICTURES BELOW ITEM DETAILS
