So I came across this little technique and I thought i'd share it with y'all.

This tip only applies to people that purchased their X recently (last 2-3 months) OR if you still have that dealer survey that was mailed to you to see how your buying experience was.

I only stumbled upon this because this survey is worth so much to the stealership (particularly the guy who sold you your X), and they kind of hint to you that's the case. Not sure about other states, but here in California:

I called up the general manager and told him I had the survey. I asked him what he could do for me if I gave it to him. He said I'll give you 1 free oil change. I said, yeah right. Then he came back with 6 months. I said "Look, let's quit messin' around: 1 yr free oil changes and 50% off all parts". He came back with 1 yr. free oil change and wholesale price on all parts. I said, right on then, you got yourself a deal. This weekend I got the oil change done and I'm looking to get the parts sometime next month.

Thought this may help anyone wanting to get one over the stealership.

Peace out! Happy Holidays Xer's.

Wow, nothing like bribing the dealership. :)

Personally I would rather give Nissan my honest opinion on the dealer I bought my X from. I also give them my honest opinion on the work I have done at the dealer. This is one of the easiest ways for Nissan to fix the problems they have at crappy dealers.

I got some hats for free and a few extra things I wanted from the parts department at employee cost, for a :wink wink: :nudge nudge: good survey.

Which is really funny because they treated me like a king and I was already going to give them a good survey.

Oh yeah, if they're good then giving that survey to them will make them look even better. But if they were being dicks the whole time then screw em', that's when it's time to stick it to em.

The survey for the work done to your car is separate. I still have not received that one yet, but I tried to wheel and deal with the service manager and best he said is 5% off labor, meh.

I thought about that, and in fact was bribed with a year of oil changes when we bought the Dodge a few years back, but they have been great with everything (including the price) that I just gave them a steller review.
I expect to hear from the owner shortly (as he did when we were shopping)

i just got a survey in the mail. i emailed the dealer about it and their response was:

"Nissan does not allow us to compensate customers for surveys.
We would appreciate it if you mailed it in."

maybe i'll go back and talk to the manager about it though. i wasn't impressed by the sales experience. took almost 3 hours to negotiate, then i walked away from the deal. they called me back late at night and decided to agree to the my offer. blah

Yes, I believe a word of mouth deal would be much better than something in writing, also talk to your sale person. They have something to lose with a bad survey and might hook you up with something to get on your good side.

My Dealer and Salesman was great during the sales process. So I gave them good marks. If they were bad or tried to dick me, I would have just walked away on gone somewhere else.

so your saying i should bribe the dealership since i still got the survey. Now even though my experience at the dealership was nice I disliked one thing, I got my plates/registration exactly after the date the temp plates would expire (on the 15th) and in the form the date that they recieved the plates was the 8th. I dont know what took them so long to call me and tell me that they received it even though i called them myself a few days prior and they said they are still not in.

I already screwed the dealer with my trade in. There were two serious things wrong with it (power windows and air bag) which they didn't pick up in their inspection. Would have been $1600 to fix.

Buyer beware eh? :geek:

I have done the same thing many many times. Of course one of those times I got a 2002 Xterra SE/SC that was equally horrible.

yeah, I got my Xterra home (bought it brand new two weeks ago) and realized that there was no antenna. I payed $100 prepping fee, and they missed the detail that there was no antenna on the thing. I got the antenna the next day, but I'm going to see if I can get my $100 back. (I haven't gotten my survey in the mail yet).
