i replaced a super start platinum 35F. worked fine, fit fine in stock box, but it was time. i followed isaachunter and installed the northstar agm 27F. now that's a battery. i ditched the plastic tub. wasn't going to provide anything useful. 27F is 2-3 inches wider. when i get my shop back set up i'll build a proper battery box.

A. Has your battery failed? Just started to fail (probably 1 or more cells staring to fail). Voltage after stopping after a 40 minute drive is only 12.5V - overnight that dropped to 12.25V. On cranking voltage is 9.8v (they say replace in charged voltage is < 12.6 and cranking <10V)

B. How old was the battery? 4years 9 months
C. What climate do you live in? Quebec winter can be -30F and it will be <32F for 3 - 4 months.

D. Was it replaced under warranty? Warranty expired
E. Would you buy this battery again? Absolutely - just ordered a Red Top GR34R - because it was only $10 more

I am creating this thread in the spirit of the "Tire Options" thread, so people here can give their reviews as to what type of battery they use, how they like it, and can update if it fails prematurely. It took a lot of searching for me to decide on my battery when my stocker Bosch took a dump the other day, and I figured consolidating everything would be better. Please try and keep this purely to your own battery, or one you've owned in the past, not opinions on other peoples choice of battery.

B. How old was the battery? Looks new/clean
C. What climate do you live in? PNW
D. Was it replaced under warranty? No
E. Would you buy this battery again?
No. My next battery will be an Odyssey that kicks the snot out of Optima!
I just purchased my '13 Pro-4x Friday and this was what was in it. I LOVED my Odyssey battery that was in my previous truck and cannot wait for this one to go bad. We rarely freeze, here, so 550 CCA will likely be just enough.

I am pretty satisfied the performance. This battery is CCA730/ CA910 /Reverse Capacity 175 mins / 20 hr nominal capacity: 100Ah. Surprisingly, this fits Xterra's battery space without any modification. The battery did not push any of parts although not much space left. I used this battery as AUX, but I switched this battery for starter and am using Duralast platinum AGM as the second battery in cargo area.
