Hey everybody,

I know some people had the question of where to get steel axle shims. I found a place that has them in the correct 2.5" width.

Next was a question that I have. I put on a set of Deaver mini pack AAL's that gave me about 2" of lift. I'm getting a minor driveline vibration at about 30 mph (only accelerating or decellerating in gear) and can barly feel anthing if anything at other speeds. What degree of shim works that you have all found? I have stock shackles as well.

(I'll ad a new post with pictures of my new lift and tires once I download them from my camera.)

Thanks,
Dan

Jason,

I called Calmini and they said that their shims are 3 degrees for the 1.5" AAL. Potentially with 2" I might need 4 degrees, but I don't know for sure.

There's a good picture of a 2,0° shim from AC. And i trowed away the last leaf, you don't need it. No vibration at all.

so this may be a dumb question, but that hasn't stopped me before.

how do the center pins slip into the spring perch with shims? They aren't very long and I can imagine the shims causing the pin to not hold the leaf in alignment with the diff?

Most shims have a pin of their own milled into the shim. This is why steel shims are much more expensive than aluminum shims (they are harder to make).
