Did anyone else have any updates on their days available? Mine are unfortunately set in stone since I work the ER. I'm gonna pull the trigger on the ARB50fridge and thinking of getting a RTT as well so hopefully I'd have them in by that time (and get time to put on the tent).

If nothing happens though then 10,11,12 I'm gonna go innawood to Pisgah and Cherokee and do more exploring.
I'm not going to make that weekend, as much as I want to. Just too much going on here right now.

Who all is good for the 25th at Flag Pole? Meetup at the Sheets on Main about 10am.

Gonna do the stock/new guy friendly side of the mountain this time.

I'll have a FRS and a Ham radio. Cell phone is spotty at best there.

No idea if I'll be camping or not right now. Depends on how much time I can spare.

That would probably be the best weekend for me, either that or Labor Day weekend. I don't want to sabotage your plans though, Pisgah / Cherokee are just a bit too far for a weekend for me, roughly 8 hours. Assuming you're talking of that in NC.

Harrisonburg / Flagpole is doable but I probably wouldn't get there until late at night the 10th. Also, I don't have a ton of experience on trails. Not afraid to try things, but I can't exactly break things either or I'm screwed. I'd completely understand if you wanted to go elsewhere / with others so just let me know.

Sadly, that weekend counts me out of it. That happens to be the day of my neice's birthday party. Missing that is tantamount to exile. I hope y'all have a great time though! I'll catch a trip one of these times!

The 10th is the day before I head out to Colorado so I have to get packing. The 25th is my neice's party.

Terry...looks like Im creepin on this.

I know some guys are wheeling up at FPK this weekend, but would love to meet up with some X's for a trip. Since the X is still stock I would likely do the intermediate run up if I came along.
As far as I know, there's only the Switzer Lake trail and The Steps on the 33 side of the mountain. The Reddish Knob side is mostly paved and a gravel road.

Since this was mostly new guys who had shown interest, I was going up the Switzer side. I would like to try going up the Steps sometime but not with guys who are just getting started and most likely not having my winch installed yet.

I always forget the nomenclature for FPK, but if I remember right there are three routes. One is the switzer lake which is the easy way, the paved route which is just a fire road at best, and then the one where you got to clear the big rock at the end. Normally I would hit the big rock route as its a short but fun way up in my taco, but with the X I don't think I got much clearance stock so I would go the switzer lake which is an awesome view to cruise up with.

Isn't Switzer Lake off of 33? I know of the 3 different routes I'm just trying to get a visual of where they all start. I thought trail with The Steps started in Harrisonburg?

You still come off 33 to get to it though, you just turn off before the lake rather than going up the mountain.

We had a stock X on 285s run The Steps from top to bottom with us ( @IssacHunter @PipeFighter ) a few months ago and he did fine. But with new drivers, I think it's best to start with something on the easier end of things. When we get these folks out and acquainted with their trucks, we'll move up to the more challenging stuff.

Nice guys...Im going to see if I can swing the 25th for the trip to flagpole. On a side note...anyone got their stock suspension that they want to offload? The suspension on my rig is quite rusty and Im sure many of you would have cleaner take offs then what I got currently. I would be interested in the rear leafs as well if anyone has a set laying around they don't want or something.
