Hello everyone,

My wife's 2005 xterra SE 4x4 started having transmission problems last month. Lets just say we found about strawberry milkshakes the hard way. To make a long story short, she needs a new TCU/valve body.

I think it may just be easier and better in the long run to buy a used low millage automatic verses replacing the TCM.

Does anyone know if the automatics are interchangeable 2005-present?
Any help on this would be great - shes been stuck without her xterra for a week so far. I'd like to get it fixed asap!

Thanks in advance - newbies Mike and Mel

'07/'08 there were some changes to the valve body. Not sure how it affects interchangability. Most salvage yards have pretty good interchange manuals.

We are over just over 100 000 miles so I don't think we qualify :( thanks for the link and the responses though.

I might call the dealer and quiz them. Not sure how much that will help but worth a try. I tried looking it up on car-part.com but it doesn't say if the transmissions are interchangeable.
