There is a local performance shop that has teamed up with a local Nissan dealership. They have put out several supercharged and turbo 350z and G35s. I can ask the guy that runs the place what he might be willing to do. He is a very well respected tuner for those with stangs and the LS1 crowd and now the import scene.

261 hp is plenty for me. I don't see the point in blowing $3,000+ to boost an SUV. Those 350Zs and G35s are boosted for a reason - because they are sporty cars that are designed to go fast / race etc. Not the same scenario with an X.

I'm just gauging interest. For me 261hp is barely adequate. But there are always others that will want more. I personally wouldn't mind a set of headers, intake, and exhaust. And I think there is a growing trend towards performance SUVs.

I've spoken with a buddy that works there this morning and hope to hear something this evening. You can already have the turbo/supercharger kit rolled into financing for the 350z's so it would be nice if they had the same option for the Xterra's. And if you stay under a certain boost level you still have a warranty.

I doubt very much that the engine warranty will remain if you add a Supercharger or Turbo.

The Z & X engines are very similar, same basic design the Z just has a smaller capacity. So assuming the Intake / Exhaust valves etc. are the same, a Turbo designed for a Z shouldn't be to big a deal should it?

Bingo! It's driven by the crank instead of exaust. Downside is parasitic drag on the engine; MPG goes down. Might have to upgrade to premium gas for either one to reduce the risk of detonation.

I've seen twin turbo 350Zs on TV and such. A twin turbo 4x2 Xterra would make one fast desert runner. Has anyone seen a supercharger for the VQ? Although, for rock crawling (the sport in my neck of the woods) you would probably be better served getting a gear multiplier for sooooooper low gear ratios.

I should have an asnwer for you tomorrow. They are taking a serious look into it since they already have and install kits for the 350z and the Titan. I have a remote setup from my employer so I have offered my X to be the test mule should they decide to move forward on this.

Sorry guys for the slow response. I just got off the phone with them and they have expressed interest but they need to see a demand for the kits. So if anyone wants to post this on any other Xterra boards feel free. Those that are already here and are seriously interested chime in.
Here is the web addy to the shop I'm hoping will be able to design a kit for us.
