So I installed a new stereo last night and everything seemed fine. When I got in the truck this morning the Supplemental Airbag warning light started flashing and hasn't stoped. When I got into work I checked to make sure I didn't have any loose connections, but everything seems OK.

Any ideas? Any way to clear the code to see if maybe it was from a loose connection? Should I remove the stereo before I bring it into Nissan? I've had the truck for exactley 1 week and I'm not in a good mood right now. Thanks for any help...

This happened to me too, and it's been posted a few times:

1. Put key in. Turn the key to ON position and watch the airbag light turn on solid (not blinking).
2. As SOON as it starts blinking, turn the key off within one second.
3. Take key out
4. Repeat steps 1 -3 three more times
5. On your fourth time turn the key and the light will go on and turn off , for good within a few seconds.

This has worked for me several times. Good luck.

Yup it kinda worried me too, it apparently happens if you turn on the ignition with any airbag wires disconnected. Both the airbag light wire (when you remove the dash) and the airbag sensor wire (when you remove the passenger seat) caused this to happen, but I used this method every time and it's always been fixed.

Bump up cause this was exactly what I was looking for and it was on page 8!

I have to admit, whoever invented these forums should get a medal. I used to frequent the dsmtalk forum when I had my talon and now I'm here... The wealth of knowledge is priceless.

LOL yea, the How to's in Organized Fashion by Cornick has this cure. That post has a lot of common cures in it. (Not buried as deep) And, I think the thought of using a search function degrades with panic! LOL MC

As a side note.

If anyone is going to play with the radio or airbag wiring, make sur the battery is disconnected.

Air bags can and have deployed during radio installation more than once.

you can then search for the How to about turning the VDC light off....

air bag light

MAN, thanks for this. I had my dash all apart to wire in my GPS and this dam light started blinking. All I could think about is taking it to a dealer and dropping $100 for something that just took a minute to fix. Big thanks.

so i checked the seat and everything seemed plugged in. But i did manage to take it to the stealership and they said it was the spring in the head light/turn signal switch that is messed up. WTF!!!! how does that have anything to do with Air Bag light.... And also they wanted $700 to fix everything. I laughed and said "ummm no thanks i will fix it myself".

Thanks Armando. I just reset the "Airbag Fault" and "Passenger Airbag Off" lights using the procedure in the second post of this thread.

I am not sure what caused it to turn on. It was either my wife's backpack pushing against the wiring for the sensors in the seat or electrical interference from the serious lightning storm we drove through today (at one point, it caused the radio to switch from FM to AM by itself).

If this does't work you can get anybody with a good consult computer to do this. I had mine come on after I had an AppRadio installed. I tried this but I wasn't looking directly at the site so might have gotten it wrong. I took it my local friendly mechanic and he had it off in 30 seconds.

The starter of this thread (Freefly) said the light came after he installed a new stereo... I'm pretty sure that he disconnected the passenger seat airbag light (in the part of the dash that he removed) and tried his new stereo with the dash not re-installed... The airbag computer sees the missing light and signals it as a fault.

To avoid this problem (and work on the stereo with the center part of the dash removed) you should let the light plugged but unscrew it from the rear to free the dash panel.
