This is my first 4x4. I plan to create a capable over landing / expedition vehicle. I have dreams of exploring the SoCal deserts and getting the EFF out of Orange County every once in a while.

The day I bought it Stock

I realize my title "New from California" is a little vague. I am located in Orange County, CA. From the looks of it, there are a lot of Southern California people on this site. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and share beers with as many people as I can!

Welcome Steve from Orange County. Nice XTerra. How are you going to use it? Do you intend to do any mods, or just enjoy the truck as is?

I plan to use it as a means of escape (as dramatic as that sounds lol) from my desk job. I ride mountain bikes and this state has much to offer off the beaten path.

As far as mods are concerned, overland and camping out of it are my main goals. The short list of mods consist of
Front bumper
Rear bumper/tire carrier
Suspension lift
Larger tires
Roof rack (to potentially accomodate an RTT)
Rock sliders
Skid plates
Off road lights
Ect.

You know, all the fun stuff!

I'm not exactly sure when the modding will begin. I need to consult the "But will it void my warranty" thread as I still have quite a bit of miles left on that.

There's tons of great places to go within a few hours in SoCal. Make the commitment and enjoy this place!

You're very right.

Hopefully there are some members on here who enjoy good company and being paid in beer. I look forward to future mod days

Hey, welcome from Sunny SoCal (but you knew that). Check out the boards here, and then wander over here for a more local flavor:

Southern California Club Xterra

Hope to catch you on the trails soon...we are all headed to Big Bear this weekend for a little Adopt A Trail programming.

Cheers,

John/GhostX

Oh...and BTW...the more MOD's you add...the more you see the little nozzely fella plugged into your driver's side rear quarter panel.

Just sayin'...
Yes, I am already becoming ever aware of that nozzely fella

I got 18.37 combine MPG between my first two fill ups. It's only going to get worse!

I wish I had the cajones to drive up to Big Bear. I've never driven in snow and am extremely unprepared for any sort of adventure. Maybe next month?

I was doing some reading and noticed that when you have big items, bumpers lift kits ect, shipped they need to be received at a location with a loading bay. Where does everyone do this? I have a UPS store mailbox but they do not have a forklift! lol.

I'd love to check out your guys' rigs. Maybe we could meet up someday soon so I can drool at the awesome. Theres lunch and a beer in it for you!

Anyways, I posted this in another thread, but thought it would be cool to post here as well. At least until I get into serous modding

My first mod to the X, EVER!

I need a receiver to accomodate my Thule T2 bike rack.
Until I can save (and wait) for a rear bumper with a tire carrier this will have to suffice.
Ordered from Amazon, free 2 day shipping and installed at Uhaul for $23.50. I lack tools and experience. Hopefully that will change as I endeavor onto future mods!

While in search of a carne asada burrito, I happened upon this BRIGHT RED 1st gen... I had to park next to it. The first time I've parked next to another X. Granted, it looks as if both are onroad/onrad but who cares!

Notice, my AWESOME mud flaps! LOL

Welcome from North Carolina. Congrats on the purchase and keeps the pics coming.
Will do!

Spent last Saturday sampling the brand new trails at Snow Summit in Big Bear, CA. They were fantastic!
