Accelerator Pedal Observations

2698 Views 12 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Jodokast872
I got the opportunity to drive a friend's 06 MT, S last week. One thing I noticed was the accelerator was very heavy. It seemed like I had to damn near step on the thing to get the X to move. It was very resistant to being pressed. I didn't recall this being the case when I test drove one a few months back. Is this normal with either the MT or the AT? I haven't driven an AT yet.

It does not seem to be that way for me.
Not the case on my X. The pedal seems normal and responsive.

However, this is the case when I am in 4-low as the electronic throttle adjusts it's sensitivity.

Well, if releasing the parking brake don't work..... It's fly by wire, you may have slow wires or a glitch in the pedal module. If not all that, maybe a empty plastic soda bottle or a tennis ball got under the pedal.
Let us know.

...actually, it turned out to be a dead body under the pedal. Once the gummy, gooey stuff was removed it was much easier to push!

But seriously, it just must be his truck then. I drove a few other dealer demos that did not feel like that. Wasn't sure if this was the norm, or a fluke.
My pedal presses too easily, i think i need to try the dead body bit. :geek:
