Hi all. I have a Nissan Xterra 3.3L V6 2000. I'm concerned about my ABS light. It has been running for about five months now and stays on all the time. My brakes seem to work fine and the brake fluid reservoir is full and stays full so there is no leak. I know it could be a few different things, but I'm open to suggestions as to what the problem might be and how I can fix it. I'm also concerned about the cost of repairs. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty Wheel Speed Sensor.

To be honest, this forum is specific to 2005-2015 Xterras, so you might find a bit better info on a forum for the first generations.

Get it checked out ASAP. It probably means your ABS doesn't work and that's bad news for you and everyone around you. Start with reading the code. Not all OBDII tools will read into your ABS system, but I know the $150 FOXWELL NT630 Plus will do it. If it's a faulty wheel speed sensor they are often times easy and cheap to fix. I replaced one of my front sensors a while back for about $25 and less than 10 minutes of work.

Is it 4wd? If so probably the g sensor under the center armrest. Those are guaranteed to go bad eventually. You’ll need to pull the abs code to be sure. There’s an easy method with a paper clip in the obd port to get the code. I think g sensors are running about $100 used on eBay.
