looks like the nissan dealership here upped the price from $24.95 to $29.95 for a regular oil change service. is this the norm in other places? maybe i can have them price match...but man, that's crayzay.....

Its crazy easy to change your own fluids. Once you learn how, you'll wonder why you ever bothered paying someone to do it for you. Then you'll think of all the money you could have saved. Then you'd be depressed. But then you'd find some free porn and be happy again. :)

It cost me about $25 to change my own oil, I get a Auto Zone discount...there is one right in front of where I work. Its amazing what some free food can get you.... :) Hell I get free oil changes from when I bought my truck and haven't used one yet...I'm waiting for when I get really, really, really lazy. Or when its 105 degrees outside again.

$29 is about right in CA. I'd rather let Nissan do it than pay some schmuck. Last time I took it to a local shop, they did not bolt parts of the skid on! Can you freaking believe this? But yeah, do it yourself or take it to a trusted source and pay. Don't know if you consider a Nissan shop to be a trusted source though...

I wouldn't think that 29 dollars is to bad to have an oil change - If you use synthetic, this is what it would cost you to do it yourself -

I think a lot of people don't value their time into doing things like that - what do you make per hour? Is that factored into the cost of doing it on the ground in your spare time? I always look at it like that

Well it seems that by some of the peoples experiences with Nissan dealerships..... Nissan techs and schmucks are the same people!! LOL

well if its gonna cost me more than $20 to do it myself, i'll just let the dealer do it... i forgot about that free carwash :geek: i'm just not happy that they raised it by 5 bucks..... probably gonna use that whole $100/barrel for oil excuse to justify the increase

btw, since i'm acting like a cheap ass, i'm gonna just update my avatar to fit the way i feel right now

It maybe on 25 dollars at the dealer. But what is your time worth?

Everytime I have to go there they are painstakingly slow.

As others have said do it yourself It will be done right
I have changed so much oil over the years it's not funny.
Run a high quality synthetic and let it go 7500-25000 miles
Get your moneys worth

Mcampana has a hell of an offer take him up on it.
Hell I may go by there for the filter on my way home for Xmas

I have had 2 filters not tight on dealer oil changes.
Basically you could train a monkey to change oil. But then again the dealers seem unable to properly train them.
Maybe they need more bananas

LOL, nice avatar....

and like rckev said... it takes the dealer alot longer to do the oil change than they should, plus usually you need an appointment if you want your truck to get taken right away... even then sometimes they cant get right to it.

Time is money... so you end up saving alot more doing it yourself.
