I was looking at these comapring them. They are roughly the same height except ones a 9.5 inch wide tire. The funny thing is the 235/85's are cheaper then the 265/75's

I've been debating the same thing for the longest time. I was thinking about getting 235/85/16 (32x9.5R16) studded winter tires this season, but I just think they are too narrow for our wheels. Don't get me wrong I'm 100% devoted to pizza cutters and hate fat tires that stick out to the sides. But 235 is IMO too skinny for our 7.5x16 wheels. I still might get them at some point if I can get some 7x16 or even 6.5x16 steel wheels. Make no mistake that this is an excellent size. Over half the Toyotas and Land Rovers in Africa and Latin America use this size. So its more than proven option.

I think for our X's 265/75/16 and 255/85/16 are the best options in R16 and 265/70/17 and 275/70/17 for R17.

You can save a lot of money by getting Toyo's Open Country AT, Nitto Terra Grapper or something similar, and not getting BFG's T/A KO's or MT's

Our 16" wheels are 7". The SE's 17" wheels are 7.5"
Thanks for the correction. I wasn't 100% sure and was too lazy to check

Just reviewed the rim specs for a 235/85/16 and it shows 6.0 - 6.5 - 7.0 meaning that it can be mounted on our rims but they recommend going 1/2" narrower.
