Hello!
I am new to this forum, and I have tried searching the forums and reddit and even google to try and find a how to guide to install a light bar in your bumper with not much luck. I want to install my 22" light bar in the bumper gap, with the bracket going up into the grill, but I can't find any good how to guides. Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance. Here is what I bought and want to install.

Light Bar

Harness

Switch

I’d start by reading this (Wiring Explained: Relays, Fuses, Breakers and Lights...) that will at least get you familiar with some of the ins and outs of circuits and wiring. Based on what you posted you’re going to need to modify that harness in 2 ways. Firstly, it’s a harness for 2 lights rather than one. And secondly you’ll need to cut the switch off if you want to run the rocker switch.

Start by running the wiring into the cab. There’s a grommet on the firewall by the drivers side. I use a metal coat hanger to do this. Sharpen one end of the hanger and on the other end loop it over to make a hole for pulling a wire. Poke a new hole in the grommet and then cut the harness as close the the push button switch as possible. Then loop the wires through the hanger’s hole and tape them to make a “chain”. Go inside the cab and find the pointy end of the hanger’s and pull the wire through. Then you’re going to need to strip and crimp the appropriate connectors to wire up the rocker switch (there should be a diagram provided). You’ll also need to tap a headlight triggered circuit if you want the amber lights to come one with the rest of the interior lights.

Going back under the hood you then need to wire up the harness to the battery and tape off 2 of the 4 connectors so it doesn’t short out. Wire up the remaining 2 to the light bar then mount it to the bumper. You’ll need to mount it on the bottom of the opening I believe not the top as desired.

If you want to mount it solid in the bumper gap you will have to mount the brackets to the bottom to mount to the metal bumper behind all the plastic.

Normally you have 2 wires running inside, to a switch. Then under the hood is a thicker wire going to the battery and the lights through a relay.

switch triggers relay. Even if the lights change, lights added (more current needed), your relay is handling it.Like a 10 amp or 15 amp relay.
Your switch can be small, thin wires... relay handles the powering current

then you want a fuse, to protect the circuit if something goes wrong. Close to the battery, within inches/a foot is recommended.
