Just purchased 2007 Xterra S 4L with the factory trailer light harness, and the parking lights will not turn OFF (key removed, door locked/unlocked). NOT the brake lights. Rear tail lights left and right, front yellow corner lights left and right, and yellow turn signal running light (low beam) left and right. Have removed 2 fuses (Illumination and Tail Lights) to get lights off, as not to run battery down. Turn signals and flashers work fine front and rear, even after removing fuses. Battery has been replaced, as it has been sitting dead for a long time. Have remove aftermarket alarm as I thought that might be the problem. No Engine or ABS codes. Truck runs fine but need to fix this issue before I take it on a long trip. As far as I can tell there is no specific relay for front and rear running/parking lights to stay ON. I can not figure out how a short or relay can cause 2 different circuits to stay ON??? I suspect the BCM, but would like some outside input before I even think of replacing expensive parts... as I am cheap.
Thanks

You purchased it with this problem? Aftermarket alarm, so someone has been dicking around with the wiring as well. Any history with this vehicle? Almost sounds like there were problems and it was parked to start with.

FYI, the BCM is tied to the ECM and have to be paired for the factory security to allow the engine to start.

Dumb question, but you are making sure they are turned off on the headlight stock, right? First click should be parking lights, second low beams.

I wonder if there is a wire or connection in there that is loose and shorting out, causing the parking lights to stay on.

If I read that right you pulled the switch out of the steering column and now you get power out of the up stream and down stream wires?! Is the headlights are on even with the switch out?

Start swimming upstream and the loom leading to that switch is first up. Look for smoking guns like intrusions into the loom loose missing electrical tape or poorly wrapped tape etc. good hunting! Somehow some where there is lose getting to the wire behind the switch.
